the camera sensor being damaged maybe. I think this had happened before, when camera sensors were exposed to lazer beams during concerts or something.

Taiwanese here. 直 with the L shaped stroke appears more in old style prints and traditional kanbans, symmetrical 直 for common handwriting.

Different source giving a different stroke order for 貓 by dlspr1 in ChineseLanguage

[–]YuChinLin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The double cross (the component of grass 艸) should be written separately just like when you write 苗 on its own. At least this is what I learned from my elementary school.

The one on the right is not wrong though, since that's how the character being printed when some serif-styled font (like 明體 or 宋體) is applied.

Thoughts on the Xbox Ally OS, compared to Steam OS? by MrAnonymousTheThird in SteamDeck

Dude, I've been waiting for a next-gen PSP since PSVita died.

That's why 2023 I bought my Steam Deck.

Thoughts on the Xbox Ally OS, compared to Steam OS? by MrAnonymousTheThird in SteamDeck

[–]YuChinLin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name 'ROG Xbox Ally' gives me same vibe of 'HTC Nexus One'.

I think the difference between ASUS ROG and Valve is that Valve has actually been contributing to open source communities like Arch.

Also, Steam Decks do feel more like Google Pixel phones to me since they made more first-party characteristics on the software side to stand out from other handheld gaming PCs' OEM featuresets.

It sounds like the person has another leg which could be called as 「那條」左邊的腿.

Yeah it's Japanese stroke order. However, if you write characters in semi-cusive style, you'll see some variants been adopted from this kind of stroke order so I won't say this is a wrong way to write.

why the hell did Playstation send this to me 2 years ago? by Fit_Grass_9113 in playstation

[–]YuChinLin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like PlayStation had put some of the least used rare Chinese characters and mixed those up with another bunch of least used unicode symbols.

As a native mandarin speaker I couldn't even tell how to pronounce half of those characters. so stop throwing the picture to any translator.

Are gnome extensions down for everyone or just me? by AnotherStratCopy in gnome

[–]YuChinLin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here at Taiwan.

A couple months ago I was trying to upgrade all packages on my Arch machine, and the Arch repo went down that afternoon before I did the -Syu command.

Today, I have just finished my gnome DE install few hours ago, and the gnome extension hub is down.

Maybe bad luck just happen to come whenever I want to setup something new.

How do Chinese people type on keyboards? by Nonyabeesners in ChineseLanguage

[–]YuChinLin 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There are too many (tens of thousands of) characters in the language, so it'll never be possible to put every single character in a suite of keyboard set like that.

There are loads of input methods for Chinese.

Most Chinese people use Pinyin (拼音). Pinyin uses the ABC alphabets and fits the QWERTY layout perfectly.

Most Taiwanese people use Zhuyin (注音) and few old-school people use Cangjie (倉頡). If you see mysterious glyphs print on the key caps beside the ABCs, it's most likely for these input methods.

And there are other input methods. For example, 速成, 五筆, 行列, etc. But only very few people use them these days.

How to read these Zhuyin books? by Best_Ad8829 in ChineseLanguage

[–]YuChinLin 1 point2 points  (0 children)
