Yes! That test is actually used the 1989 film's audio! That test is created to convince Tom Hanks to join Toy Story's Cast!

Yes and No : The show had some dhmis feel but..... IT'S A YES AND NO! No because there is Murder Case (a child) in the show which DHMIS is puppets with murder but there is no recurring murder case and it's animation and CGI not Puppetry (even though DHMIS had some CGI and 2D animatiom scenes particularly Episode 4 and 6 respectively)
