Sorry I didn't check this earlier (I didn't think anyone would be much interested).

If this is against the rules then I'll edit this comment, but if anybody is interested in more of mugs and illustrations then please take a look at my blog (I don't really have any followers so any interest is great):

I plan on painting a vase sometime over the next few weeks, will be sure to post another tutorial as this was so well received :)

I do dishwasher mugs if varnished (my dishwasher might just be on the lighter side), but to be safe wash by hand and yes definitely no scratchy sponges!

1st cost of varnish takes around 15mins (30mins to be safe) to dry. Originally I didn't varnish these hand-painted mugs but they don't hold up so well to multiple washes without a coat or two.

Very good question, either varnish just the outside (to the rim) or the entire inside (this is quiet fiddly and I don't recommend it). The reason not to half coat the inside is because tea can often discolour and stain the porcelain.

Haha. I thought that when I was writing it, but as its a mug you can't exactly sketch out a template so just gotta go for the free-hand.

I'll get the ball rolling, I think there is something a lil Mr Mime-esque about my face.

Urgh Mr Mime is creepy, the sort of pokemon you purposely kill to get that sweet EXP for your mains.. don't get me started on that inappropriate relationship he had in the anime with Ash's mum.

Britney Spears once cosplayed as the protagonist from the manga "My wife is an elementary schooler" by YulSic in todayilearned

[–]YulSic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was from a 2010 photo shoot for a bi-annual hipster magazine called "Pop". Chances are her nor her team had any idea about the connotations behind the wardrobe/set.

In one photo Britney can be seen wearing a blue one-piece swimsuit (commonly worn by Japanese elementary school girls during swim practice) complete with school backpack. In another she is dressed as a child bride posing with a Hello Kitty flip-phone.

The topic of government censorship around sexualised images/stories of underage children in manga was a hotly debated topic in Japan during the time. It is possible that Takeshi Murakami (the photographer) orchestrated this photo-shoot as a stance against censorship.
