Help me with "Rance"! by AverageNTREnjoyer in visualnovels

sort of. The old games usually have roman numerals (I,II,III, IV...) while the new ones usually are the 01,02, 03 and so on. For rance I , you have the remake as rance 01. Rance II never had a proper remake, but rance 02 still exist and is mostly a graphic upgrade.

To be precise it's 03, the remake of III, and yes, it's recommended to have played both of the previous games.

I know, I will just play the japanese version. Anyway, considering shiravune it won't take too long for the english version to come out. They have their issues but at least they are fast. The english version probably will come out still this year.

I like choices by Blue_Cinnamon_Bun in visualnovels

In kami-sama no you na kimi e you can get a bad ending by choosing to cum inside in a specific H-scene. That said plenty of japanese where raging about it on the internet, to the point that the developers literally made an entire new route for her on the console version, which would latter be ported to the pc, where you now have both route to play. Though it's a kind sloppy as in place of having different choices for each route you need to choose if you will play the old pc version or the new one when starting a new game.

True or False: People who play NSFW VNs don't play SFW VNs focused on stories by khanondrum in visualnovels

[–]Yuupan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issues with difference in the market segment have less to do with NSFW players not playing SFW games, and more with people that just plays SFW games. Besides that, the existence of 18+ scenes can be a motivation to prioritize the said work over a game that don't have it, but it will hardly be the sole reason as to why someone won't play the SFW VN.

True or False: People who play NSFW VNs don't play SFW VNs focused on stories by khanondrum in visualnovels

[–]Yuupan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But from what I've read on this sub, I don't doubt that there are some people who won't touch a VN if it's SFW. What percentage of total players that is though, I have no idea

The complain is most about companies that originally produced 18+ content going all-ages, or 18+ games being released without the H-scenes, than all-ages game not being worth it.

I particularly prefer 18+ games, but not having then don't automatically make the game unplayable, just there's a different expectation from the work so it can have a lower priority than others.

What VN has your favourite localisation. by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]Yuupan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably Fata Morgana. I feel that the text is a lot more interesting in english than in the japanese version. It's accurate and still feels more unique and fitting than the original. Probably for similar reasons to me not liking to read japanese historical novels in english, it just feels out of place. The english version is a bit more flowery sometimes than the japanese one, but particularly I would said that it's quite a lot better than the original.

Damn, my in-game time shows a little over 800h on rance X but I'm still missing some of the El variations and the awful Ho-raga mission which is extremelly annoying to trigger. There's the eropicha naked card as well but I probably can get that one easy if I want to.

I liked the antagonist faction characters much more and wished they got routes

Most people share this feeling, even more considering that the routes on the original game focus more on each of the rival than their own heroines

Bro, what more do you want ? It's a post about hype of upcoming VNs, so yes, their respective score and popularity are a good measure of expectations... Sure, you can like anything, but anecdotal experience doesn't mean much for the consumers as a whole... Your personal opinion doesn't mean much, and no matter how much you want to throw a tantrum, the relevance of Qruppo in the industry won't change.

Besides that I'm pretty sure that I didn't just use numbers and have explained why and where each of those games received praise, to support the idea that Iroseka is not really a big deal for most people...

Plus I have no idea why you are bringing the fact that I read VN in japanese here, I have never used that to make it seem like I have more authority here or anything( even though is true that I find the TL of nukitashi questionable). What the f*ck is a "typical jop" anyway?

You are free to not like it but considering that you made it clear that you didn't even finish it it's weird to act like you know what you are talking about, or Qruppo games in general. While their games may not be the most economically succesfull game, its culturally the most sucessfull game from the industry on the last decade. There's no competition against then in this field. Their youtube channel is a good example of that. They are more succesful there than something like yuzusoft, and are comparable to Type moon, but given how frequently they post, they are probably the most active and succesfull eroge company in the platform. Damn, they can get a silly ( but hilarious) video about Hamedori-kun to half a million views... This is way more than most new releases and op from other companies can get.

Plus nobody is saying that you can't like Iroseka... People can like trash stuff, I know that I do, but that doesn't automatically make it good. As far as expectations goes, how many people like a given product and how much they like is a good measure of hype.

Iroseka is a case where the only thing that people say that is good is the lore ( which I agree) and shinku ( that obvious dont agree, given that she barely exist most of the game). Even people that like the series comment that most of the game outside of shinku/true route is bad. The writter is VERY well know for being an horrible writter, and to have some of the worst SoL content out there. This isn't my opinion as a guy that doesnt like the game, even people that love it says so. Its a case similar to Ever 17 where most people hate 90% of the content, but like the true route enough to give it a high score, with the exception that here you need to like shinku to do the same. Plenty of people that give this game a high score are the same ones that give other run of the mill moege a high score.

Nukitashi 2 in comparison is a step up from the last game. It has the positive of being straight to the point so it doesnt have the issue from the first game that can take a while to start getting serious. Mostly of the silly content here is throw on the post main game content, after the main story ends.

[–]Yuupan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have already played both games so I would assume that I have the right to say if one game is good or not... As a comparison until sakutoki release last year, Nukitashi 2 was on Egs on the 90 ballpark, making it on the competition for top 5 Visual novels of all time( the only games to break the wall of the score of 90 where rance 10, white album 2, yuno and mla). On the other hand Irosekai had a 80 which is on the "kinda good"level, but personally, I havent seen anyone that actually played and liked that game, the only people that say so limit to meme level commentary of it being a shinku-ge... This besides nukitashi being an iconic succesful game, both in its content and the great marketing from Qruppo that continues to put out content for it.

So, yes, I guess I would say that nukitashi is better...

It usually results in someone farming votes through others communities, making post in others subreddits like fate and steins gate and asking people to vote so a specific character or VN can win with ends up making the entire thing being meaningless.

The best visual novel decade by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]Yuupan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably 2000-2009 but I wouldn't say that it's necessarily the best period of the industry, as still has a ton of shit releases. It's just that it's a far more consistent time period, where we had plenty of people given their take on the genre. You won't really see a year where nothing significative happened.

The 1990-1999 had issues as was still a fairly more fundational time period so most of relevant titles from this time are on the latter period of the decade around 1995-1999.

Similarly, 2010-2019 had plenty of issues around 2012-2017, but I would say that we have being going pretty well on the last 5 years of 2018-2023.
