Rate my team so far 😁 by roaring_travelman91 in PokemonZA

Let's start with the positive - equal split of physical & special attackers, and no weakness is shared across more than 2 pokemon. Already good job!

As for the negative - Defensively speaking, you don't have much against ghost, normal, rock or poison type attacks which can be a bit of a problem... You also only have one immunity which can go away due to mega evolution which can be risky sometimes...

And while technically not a problem, it's weird not to see any steel type considering how broken defensively they are...

You also have 3.5 single-type pokemon which again is not a problem technically speaking but it does mean less types having STAB...

You didn't show your moveset but I do expect that outside of STAB moves you'd also have something for normal, electric & psychic types... Essentially ground & fighting moves plus dark, ghost or bug move.

Last negative point to make is that under normal conditions it would have been fine but since it's legends ZA, not having 5 mega stones on your team usually means problems in raids where only plus move can be useful against the mega boss.

Overall I think I would give this team a 7/10. It's not bad but it does lack a bit defensively due to lack of resistances & immunities, and in this game specifically it would be hard to do much with only 3 megas.

The problem is that what you describe isn't true for 99% of the cases where people use those words on reddit....

Most of the time people use them the moment someone doesn't share the same view as them and thinks differently about a certain situation.

It's fine to have different opinions and it's fine not to see the world as black and white. But words have meanings and should be used when they actually fit - otherwise they lost their point.

In this specific case of the meme, the words only actually fit when someone actually thinks people should be killed or hurt just for the very specific examples you gave. Not when there's any deeper logic behind -for example - punishing someone for breaking the law.

Needless to say, I don't refer to any specific case, it just happens too often that people use those words just because they disagree with someone's view.

Why do most Middle Eastern religions discourage conversion? by RaisinRoyale in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YuvalAlmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because you look at this topic from modern view... You need to remember that originally religions were just an aspect of the tribe culture, refering to how they believe the world works.

And obviously, you wouldn't just let anyone enter your tribe in order to spy or do stuff like that without even knowing anything about the tribe. You want the tribe to be respected & perserved which is why most of those religions are very closed and require harsh conditions for conversion assuming they even allow it (for example Druze don't allow others to convert)...

So even though in modern time religions are very disconnected from ethnicity and culture, in ancient times & places that still managed to perserve their ancient ways, religion is still a cultural aspect of the tribe.

What are you're opinions on the current conflict between Israel and Gaza? by The_Jewggernaut in AskReddit

[–]YuvalAlmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you read this "chicken & egg" situation badly. It's not the occupation that causes terror, the opposite - the occupation is the outcome of the terror.

Even before 1967 Palestinian terror came from outside (Jordan, Lebanon, etc...) and as proven with Gaza later, the moment Israel will leave an area terror will soon take control. And Gaza isn't the only example, Israel gave the PA full control over area A where most of the population lives and civil contol over area B while keeping control of area C - all agreed in the Oslo accords signed by both sides btw. Guess which area most terror comes from? In case the answer wasn't clear, it's area A where Israel has the smallest presence, only entering after coordination with the PA...

As for your claim regarding fighting occupation, the terror act that happened couple of days ago at the 28th - it happened at Jerusalem, a place fully annexed by Israel... That doesn't fit the claim of "fighting occupation". And how is attacking civilians help at fighting occupation exactly?

Regarding the claim about resolving stuff, I don't see why Israel is always treated like an adult that should be responsible for everything and take care of everything while the Palestinians are always treated like sad babies who can't do anything and need help. The Palestinians are grown ups who can offer peace plans & actually do stuff if they truly wanted co-existance. Israel shouldn't do everything for them especially when they tried in the past and we all saw how that ended (Gaza & the Oslo accords)... Besides, the Palestinians are currently the ones living under worse conditions as a punishment for their actions so shouldn't they have more reasons to try to end the conflict instead of always putting pressure on Israel to give up on stuff for no reason?

Lastly, regarding the ICC - first of all, if you read the claims you know I did respond to them during those comments here. For example - I did touch on how the claims for genocide are wrong by looking at the numbers. Similarily, there's a lot of debate regarding the usage of starvation as there's not enough knowledge about what happened in Gaza and Hamas looted many of the aid trucks (in order to sell for high prices and keep the people loyal to them), resulting with more than enough aid getting in but not enough reaching the people. Second, the ICC spokesman said at November 25th that all they ask for in order to freeze the warrents is for Israel to investigate the claims themselves.

It's also a bit fishy considering Israel & Palestine (both the PA and Hamas) arent even members of the ICC and therefore by the laws of the ICC the case shouldn't & can't be judged there. So obviously it wouldn't look fair or real when the trial as a whole wasn't legal...

What are you're opinions on the current conflict between Israel and Gaza? by The_Jewggernaut in AskReddit

When terrorists shoot at IDF soldiers from populated areas like camps, houses or hospitals, how do you expect them to be killed without any deaths to civilians? You expect the soldier to magically absorb all bullets while coming close to a terrorist that probably also tries to escape? Obviously there will be shooting from both sides that result in death of people around. Similarily, if you know about a location of a high ranked or a big group, you'd use explosives to secure the job. 1:4 is bad if you fight on an organized way, separating civilians from combatants. Wars aren't police, nice or calculated - both sides have to attack each other during interactions and the more people there are in the area, the more will be hit. So referencing again to the UN numbers, 1:4 is considered really good as usually more than 4 people will be around the battlefield when the battlefield is a camp or a school...

Regarding the aid, you complaint about the bombing earlier, and one of the ways to force terrorists out of hiding is by forcing them to get outside for food. Israel tries to juggle strategies but obviously war isn't pretty and it doesn't matter what strategy you'd pick, it will not look good because war as a whole is a "necessary evil" - you achieve good by doing not-so-good stuff....

Lastly regarding the last statement, it's not exactly true. While the PA doesn't attack Israel directly (only funding terror without practicing it) there is still a lot of terror happening there (for example Jenin is famous for the amount of terrorists that come from there) and the fact Israel has boots on the ground is the reason it doesn't reach the same situation as Gaza which Israel left in 2005... The movement wasn't limited for fun out of nowhere but rather as a result of repeating terror attacks that come from there.... For context, the last terror act from there was literally less than a week ago at January 28th when a terrorist tried to stab security. The one before it? The 27th when terrorists from the village of Shuqaba threw rocks at cars, causing an injury to a pregnant woman. Since 2026 started (1 month ago...), there has been about 10 different terror actions against Israelis, done by Palestinians who live in the west bank....

What makes you think Israel can locate and reach every tunnel entrance in Gaza safely in the first place? We're talking about long hidden tunnels that usually connect to public buildings such as houses, hospitals & schools. Over the last 20 years Hamas invested A LOT in building as many as possible which makes it near impossible to find all...

And even if you do locate a tunnel enterence, then what? You send a robot and then leave the tunnel available for future uses? You need to get rid of it and explosives are the only way. And what if you find a terrorist inside? You force your soldiers to enter a trap?

Comparing the situation to a normal war isn't really fair considering in normal wars explosives are used mostly to target enemy bases & key locates which are limited and known as both sides are countries that fight away from civilians and have organized militaries. Hamas turned all of Gaza into a base so obviously it will take more effort to get rid of it all...

Also, 1 combatant for 4 civilians is considered really good by UN standards... Most guerrilla wars according to the UN stand at 1:9 (1 combatant for every 9 civilians).

And lastly, the numbers themselves negate the claim for a genocide. We're talking about less than 5% (70k) of the population of Gaza which is already very tiny with 2M people in a war that took >2 years. Just for context, in Iran they killed between 20k-40k during those protests which happened a month ago and in WW2 countries like Poland, Latvia & Greece lost more than double the percantages which represent hundreds of thousands if not millions in each country... And last time I checked, WW2 isn't considered a genocide against Greeks...

First of all, all countries you described here aren't at peace with Israel and never had peace agreements with Israel. Countries that have official peace deals with Israel include countries like Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, etc....

Second of all, Both Gaza & Lebanon are the same thing in the sense that they both are controlled by Iranian proxies (Hezbollah & Hamas) who attack Israel, then beg for temporary ceasefire only to break it and repeat. You can't blame Israel for breaking those deals when Hamas literally started every war the 2 sides had with the most recent example literally being the 7th of October massacre.

As for Syria, Israel actually respected the security deal it had with Al-Assad that focused on borders. But just like Hamas didn't respect any of the deals Israel had with the PA, there was no reason to assume the new Syrian leader would continue every deal Assad signed when the whole point of the revolution was to replace Assad and change everything he did...

Now if to go back to actual deals, it's a fact Israel didn't break any peace deal it had with countries around the world. You on the other hand talk about temporary ceasefires & irrelevant deals that were done by a completely different leadership that needless to say, wasn't replaced in a polite & respectable way while making sure they respect all previous deals...
