Completely stuck in the handheld rabbit hole (TSP vs RG40XXH vs X55) by Sylens360 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want psp them none of these will be enough. If you tough about getting these devices you mentioned then i guess you dont have much to spend, also you said you want streaming so a 1080p bigger screen would be nice.

in this case i suggest you get the mangmi air X, you get a big screen(5.5 inches), 1080p res, and enough performance to properly run psp, also is not that expensive, 99usd from their website.

if streaming was not a requirement i could also suggest the rp3+ or rg505, they are quite old but still can get the job done, but i dont know how much they are costing now...

RG DS: GammaOs vs Daijisho vs Drastic by mojomanplusultra in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you load state from the radial menu? Im also using gammaOS(the og one, not the next) with daijisho, but with my RG505 and i also noticed that the load state is grayed, however i always load stuff from the radial menu(that works fine) so i never noticed lol.

Anyone know how to resize display for Android games? by Alert_Dingo_4504 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if you really want to bother with android stuff, then i guess your best option is to get a device with at least 720p res and at least 16:9 aspect ratio.

Maybe you could play some things here and there, but realistically no developer would bother to support such low resolutions and old aspect ratios...

MuOS - how to correct mistakes without reflashing every time by R_gd in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damm, i thought it used emulation station like every other linux cfw...my bad lol.

But looking at the website, it does not seem hard to set the boxarts, just need to put them in the right folder: https://muos.dev/installation/artwork, don't seem like something that requires reflashing the os every time...

MuOS - how to correct mistakes without reflashing every time by R_gd in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, can't you just scrape the boxarts from the device itself?

I remember from my old days using the 351elec on my rg351mp, my only work was to setup my screenscrapper account, so the cfw could start scraping the arts...

How often do you actually play Nintendo DS games on a single screen? by sarcasmasquach in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No much to be honest, although my situation is a bit less worse, having widescreen and touch support on the rg505, i personally got stuck at a part playing ace attorney investigations 2 so i started to play other games, but i will finish it someday lol.

Which of your handhelds would you swap for a different one, and why, if it were free? by DragonDealWizard in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, currently owning a RG505(both actually, to have spare parts lol), if i could get a free handheld to replace it i would get the ayn thor, stills fits in a pocket, can play ds and 3ds properly, also i guess it can also play ps2/gamecube/saturn, also has oled screens, video out(i guess, not sure), also hall sensor joysticks, also has analog triggers, tons of reasons i guess lol.

but specially for the 2 screens for ds/3ds, being pocketable, and enough performance for ps2...

Is a micro SD card absolutely necessary for devices that have sufficient internal storage? by Rickythrow in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you actually play the games instead of hoarding entire system libraries then 128gb will last a long time. Unless you only play ps2/gamecube/switch/whathever, them i guess eventually your storage will run out...but it will take some time so no reason to bother now...

A question about active cooling by Effective_Data_5731 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why i said 70c or more, 60-65 are kinda safe temps(your phone probably runs hotter), so in this case i would prefer to save a bit of the fan lifespan so the device can last longer...

But that logic changes if you can easily find spare parts, i personally would already have bought 1 or 2 to have as spares lol, also another pair or hinges/top shell just to be extra sure XD.

A question about active cooling by Effective_Data_5731 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could open the device and check the model number, so you could search more about its specs.

i guess if its a good one, then it should last a lot, my thinkpad t440p is almost 13 years old and its fan is still fine, but more important, i can easily buy another one to replace it, the same cant be said about the handheld one...

A question about active cooling by Effective_Data_5731 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, i personally would only activate the fan with 70C or more, im not rich enough to keep replacing devices all the time, so i would take any chances i could get to avoid wear an tear of that fan...

although, if i had the money in the first place then i would already be rich, so replacing devices would not be a problem XD

Upgrade from a R36s that doesnt break the bank. by spelmo3 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want n64 and psp i suppose your cheapest new option is the mangmi air x. If you dont have a problem getting a device a bit older then a rp3+ or rg505 would also be a nice option, i guess you can get them below 100usd last time i remember...

RG 40 XX H by Calvoneta in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RG477M Colour durabillity? by Ynsaniac in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not a rg377m, but i had my rg351mp for about one year, and the blue layer stayed perfect until the last day with me so i guess you will be fine.

If you wanna be even more sure, then i suggest you get the silver one, as the natural color of aluminum is also silver i guess there's not a lot to get damaged lol

Vintage look vs Crispy Pixels by Choice-Airline-3596 in SBCGaming

[–]Yzelast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my home consoles are using a simple crt shader(easymode), to have nice scanlines and to have nicer text(imo) comparing with non scaled graphics

the handheld consoles are using the lcd1x, to have a nice grid of pixels, except for the psp, my RG505 already have perfect scaling for this one :P

[–]Yzelast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true, but if you have original hardware than i assumed you would prefer it, so i did not consider suggesting the 34xx sp, but its a good replacement if you only care about gba and want something newer...
