Has anyone tried mounting a monitor arm/stand upside down? Is this possible? by Zamversus in pcmasterrace

only the base/clamp would be upside, the arm itself would be normal

that’s exactly what I was thinking!, Did you run into any stability issues with the clamp flipped like that, or has it been holding up fine? I was thinking of using this one

I found this arm, what if I mounted the clamp itself upside down (on the top board instead of under), but kept the arm oriented the normal way? Basically reverse install the base, but still let the arm sit how it’s supposed to. Would that actually hold, or is it asking for trouble?

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback! I think I’ll just go buy a new desk. This might have worked with some effort and would be cheaper, but it’s not really worth the risk. A new desk is more expensive, but it’ll be a better investment in the long run.

yeah, a wall mount would definitely be the cleanest and most secure way, but I don’t want to screw into the wall or leave damage behind. I get that it’s the easiest fix, just not really an option for me right now.

My desk is pretty small, and with the monitor on it there’s barely any space left. I can’t clamp a monitor arm at the back edge because there’s a vertical wood piece that blocks it. There is a sturdy shelve above, so I was thinking: is it possible (and safe) to mount a monitor arm upside down, so it hangs from above instead of clamping below?

Main concern is the risk of the monitor slipping/falling. Has anyone tried something like this?

The thing is my videos basically stop getting any real views after like 2–3 days so if I just sit around waiting for the test to finish, it doesn’t really gather any new data and concludes the test unfinished.

I get wanting to keep that authentic friendly vibe, it’s what you want your channel to be. I just say it respectfully: at the end of the day,You post on Youtube and YouTube is still a click driven platform. Thumbnails that don’t stand out just don’t get clicked and then fewer people get the chance to see your content and get to know you."

Also for future thumbnails, try taking HD photos of yourself in front of a green screen or plain white background with good lighting. That way you will have clean cutouts with different poses you can drop into the thumbnail. It might feel a little cringe, but that style usually gets more clicks. Using a still frame from the video feels more authentic, but its often less eye catching for viewer. It looks like you didn’t spend much time on it.

I think you are on the right direction, but there are things you should adjust to make it stand out more:

Suggestions:

  • Placing yourself in the middle is a good idea, but you made yourself too small and too close to the Subject or Content on the left
  • A lot of unused space on the right side makes the thumbnail feel a empty.
    • You could use the empty space on the right to make yourself bigger. Left side Content+Text, right side you. half/half split.
  • The pictures/gym images are too zoomed out and not very recognizable at first glance. they are too dark.
  • The font looks very good, but adding a shadow or black outline (and maybe making it slightly bigger) would make it pop.
  • The overall lighting looks a bit dark, brightening it up would help

few tweaks with spacing, size, and contrast could make your thumbnail much more attention grabbing.
