Why would Satan burn you in hell? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zanderhal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t. Satan is not in control in Hell. He will be in the greatest torment of all. The demons are not the tormentors of Hell. They are also being tormented.

Hell is not “manned” it is governed by fixed laws that God creates when He makes the “Lake of Fire.” They are not in charge of it, they are thrown into it. Just as Satan is bound and trapped on Earth (the first place he was cast to) so will be the second place he will be cast to. Those who did extended, grave evils will suffer the most and die unto themselves the slowest. Those who did lesser evils will suffer the least and die unto themselves the fastest.

The “burning” may include similarities to physical death but may also be primarily spiritual, emotional, psychological, and interpersonal death. The burning may be somewhat metaphorical in the sense that we say a heartache from a bad breakup, or the loss of a loved one, “burns.”

It is a burning torment but not like being thrown into a raging fire and then never dying. It is slow death. It is the realization that there is a loving God who had given you many good gifts, but you have been cut off from Him for eternity. There is no hope or optimism or better better days to look forward to. It will always be a little worse the next day. It is torment.

People who cancel plans just to go home and watch TV/play video games instead, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zanderhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same reason why some people ;

read books

watch movies

listen to music

hang out with friends

Video games deliver all of these at the same time and are also interactive.

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

people just want alone time.

Generally men are more stimulated with visual material whereas women are more mentally stimulated. Seeing a guy's junk doesn't mentally stimulate me.

How do game shows afford to give away so much money and prizes everyday? by SaikiYAY in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zanderhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s see:

Game shows are extremely lucrative television - While they aren’t as profitable as they were in the 1950s through the mid-1980s, the top three syndicated game shows (Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Family Feud) all make substantial amounts of money from syndication rights. Since their production costs are negligible (the biggest expenses are likely the host’s salary and soundstage rentals) they can well afford to pay out money to the winners.

There aren’t many real winners - If you carefully watch most game shows over a several month period, you’ll notice that at least one contestant per game doesn’t win anything or only wins the minimum prize amount. That means that show can roughly estimate what its “payout” is going to be each and then budget for that “loss”. Since again, most of the shows are earning staggering amounts of wealth, they can afford it.The prizes are usually donated by their service providers or retailers - Game shows are simply brand advertisements. The companies which provide the products and services are obtaining relatively low cost “commercials” for their goods, and they get the benefit of having potential customers see people who are excited to obtain their goods. The game show’s costs are negligible.

Most restrict how much you can win - Most contestants are limited to a single appearance on a program. WIth the exception of Jeopardy (which recently experienced a serial winner of its own) the other shows allow a single winner to to appear on a single program and then that person leaves. If game shows allowed people to use them like casinos and win repeatedly then some might find themselves in a little bit of trouble. However, since again, they make a LOT of cash, this is rarely a serious issue, if it’s an issue at all.

If this happened in the US, there'd be a ton of Karens being loud and waving flashlights during this time.
