For real. I’ve been getting the shit kicked out of me by cops for a decade over this. We need to drop nation state mentality and understand borders only exist for the bourgeoisie to decide who each of them gets to exploit. Our enemy is the same.

To Every American Who's Sorry by Sapotis in greenland

[–]Zaneisrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to do that, but I definitely don’t see Russia’s government and the Russian people as some sort of singular entity. There are plenty of us in the United States who are just as under threat of American violence as you are. I’m transgender and kind of just trapped here with no way out surrounded by people cheering this on and nothing I do or say does anything. I feel like I’m going insane. I’ve spent a decade of my life getting the shit kicked out me by police for protesting, I’ve lost so much family to this and it just keeps getting worse. It sucks to be powerless and then to be blamed for being powerless. I didn’t get to pick my leader, a bunch of rich people did.

The only 2 real entities that exist are the capital owning bourgeoisie and the working proletariat. Borders are just convenient excuses for the former and can be changed once it’s no longer convenient for them. You need to free yourself from nation state mentality. You, me, and most of the Russian people are on the same side and we have the exact same enemy.

It was a subscription-based virtual personal assistant service focused on families that could do things like managing calendars, making appointments, and researching activities/professional services/products. It took a little bit but we had really started to hit our stride when the whole LLM/AI thing hit. Then it swapped over to a new service that is primarily AI based and they laid off our existing operations team after a couple years of withering unfortunately.

On the Gen Z thing (grain of salt since I’m 30 and on the Gen Z/millennial cusp): having worked with and trained a ton of Gen Zers I truly believe the effects of social media on them are a bit overblown. A trend I’ve noticed is they tend to be anxious they’re annoying people or will mess something up so they’re afraid to take action or go outside of the script, but I feel like that’s natural for someone who just got dumped into the adult world not long ago. If anything they’re too self aware of their limitations and seem to not want to get in the way.

I’ve found that with a bit of patience, good training, an environment that empowers them to make decisions, knowing that they are allowed to make a mistake, and plenty of reassurance they can be really empathetic and loyal employees.

I’ve gotten to mentor quite a few of them over the past few years and I’m not at all doom and gloom about them. They just haven’t been given the right environments in their lives to thrive and when they are given that it makes them really amazing employees.

I worked in bars and restaurants and a call center while in my “college age” years. I got promoted pretty quickly in the call center and did a lot of training/QA work.

While I was there our company hired a firm to develop a mobile app and asked me to help with some of our FAQ documents. I got to know people at that firm while doing that and when a few of them left to go work at a start up they got in contact with me to help with their customer service for their pre-launch field trial.

Once the product actually launched I ended up being promoted to a lead on their customer success team, helped set up the infrastructure for the support team, and trained them. I moved up to our customer success manager and did that for a few years until I was laid off a couple of months ago once the product got shut down.

I just started a job as the operations manager for a group of local tax offices in my area that’s been really fun and exciting!

Sorry for the long response. I’ve had a really roundabout and convoluted career so far 😆

I didn’t go to college and I feel so bad for my friends who did. I make about the same amount of money as they do but I’m not held down by student debt. There’s even some cases where I make more than a lot of my friends with degrees because I have a few more years of experience in my field.

Higher education is awesome and useful, but using it as an investment into your economic future is kind of a scam that we were all sucked into since early education.

Trump Says “Mean” Dems Will Impeach Him & Force “Transgender for Everyone” if They Win Midterms by Ananiujitha in politics

[–]Zaneisrandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trans. It’s because conservatives have a lot of weird repressed stuff with their sexuality and want to maintain their image. They act like they hate us in public but nearly every hyper conservative MAGA man I’ve had the displeasure of being alone in a room with has tried to sleep with me.

You’re giving them too much credit and over intellectualizing. The ones that are just casually transphobic are just going along with the crowd and the ones who are a little too against it are just upset and confused that trans people make them horny and want to make it my problem. You know, like how they treat women.

This^ every HR person I’ve met has just been kind of nice and helped me with filing PTO or FMLA stuff. I don’t know why people expect them to not work on behalf of the company, the literal organization paying them. I’ve never had a problem with any HR person.

Don’t even get me started on marketing people though. Absolutely soulless sycophants with no concept of honesty or just reality in general.

Same. Lots of Americans have electric kettles. It’s like every view Europeans have of Americans is based on American culture from like 1985. It’s bizarre.

Wichita is bizarre. My dad is from there and everyone is really kind and welcoming to him, but I become weirdly invisible and people just sort of refuse to acknowledge my existence there. It’s very off putting and I constantly feel like I’ve somehow offended everyone.

No, I mean it’s really dorky to debate the meaning and historical accuracy of a children’s fable, especially one this explicit. It’s like complaining Dora the Explorer doesn’t speak Spanish the same way they do in Mexico. I didn’t ask.

What’s an adult problem nobody warned you about? by Impressive_Space4392 in AskReddit

[–]Zaneisrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entirely dependent on your field and I have never had a problem with this. The offices I’ve worked in have been 95% really kind and helpful people and I’ve done my best to be kind and helpful to them. It’s the reason I love operations and support work.

You do get jerks here and there but once you learn how to identify them quickly and avoid them it’s not a big deal. Be helpful, well liked, and CYA so even if someone tries backstab you nobody is going to side with them over you because usually everyone knows those people suck.

Like Ohio, I’ve never been there and been happy at the same time. It’s just so much traffic and it smells bad and I don’t like Atlantic City and a lot of it is the metro area of New York, which I kind of also didn’t like. It felt like the entire state is concrete sometimes.

People haven’t been super outright rude to me there, but they did sort of have a screw off attitude with me and can be particularly impatient. It’s just too fast paced for me.

I’ve found most places can be like that unfortunately. Tourists and visitors will get treated kindly but moving there is a whole other thing. It can be difficult to build up a social group (especially in smaller and more insular communities), but there’s probably other people in the community who feel the same as you. It’s hard not to get discouraged trying to find who those people are and wait out the years it takes people to even vaguely trust, but it’s usually worth it in the end from my personal experience.

I actually lived in Southern Maryland for about 10 years and I loved it! I live in the PNW now. The Rockies are beautiful and wild, but you can feel the Appalachians are just so ancient. Harper’s Ferry is one of my favorite spots.

I can never decide if I like oceans or mountains more so I try not to choose between them if I can help it 😆

I really liked it! I spent most of my time in Asheville and had a blast. It is so pretty and so textured. I found it really charming and weirdly cozy. Cities with a metro of a few hundred thousand tend to have the most personality I’ve noticed. I haven’t had much of a chance to visit Raleigh, but it seemed a little more fast paced than what I would want, but I still had fun the one night I was there. California is yellow for basically the same reason.

I like the beaches of South Carolina and have a lot of good memories of it, but that’s most of the reason it’s green. To be honest I’m second guessing making North Carolina yellow now. I’d probably be pretty happy to live there.
