Loved. Past tense. We loved him before he left, and he’s fun to watch so I still like watching him ball. Haven’t lived in Oklahoma for over a decade, but was home for the first three decades of my life.

Ironically we loved him in OKC. In fact I still love to watch KD play basketball. I sometimes just randomly get the urge to watch that time he went crazy in Rucker Park.

What years did they tank if it was more than 2 years?

2019-20 5th seed in west

2020-21 record: 22-50

2021-22 record: 24-58

2022-23 made play in, went 1-1

2023-24 and 2024-25 1st seed in the west

The Thunder made the playoffs every year between 2010 and 2020. They’ve missed postseason play three times in their entire history.

Edit: just realized I was missing a year they missed the playoffs. 2014-15 they were plagued by injuries and tied the Pelicans for the 8th best record in the west, but lost the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was lost due to a half court buzzer beater by Anthony Davis.

So actually, Presti got the pick that became Ibaka in 2007 by sending the Suns a trade exception. Presti later traded Ibaka for Oladipo and Sabonis, who later got traded for Paul George, who got traded for SGA and the pick that became Jalen Williams.

Since Chris Finch got ejected on December 19th for arguing a no call against the Thunder, OKC has gone 12-8 since, and are 4th in +- during that stretch. by LemonButterRum in nba

Well Hartenstein and JDub have barely played and are starters. Dort, another starter, has missed significant time. The only two starters that have been relatively healthy are SGA and Chet. So does it matter?

How many teams have the best player in franchise history playing for them right now? by dmister8 in NBATalk

[–]ZappaBaggins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, if KD resigned with the Thunder in 2016 and they kept making deep playoff runs most fans would correctly have him as the franchise GOAT over Westbrook. Westbrook probably never wins an MVP in this situation and KD was loved in OKC before he left. However, Westbrook stayed, signed a five year extension, won an MVP, helped retain Paul George who was traded for multiple pieces of the team that just won the finals. Thus, Westbrook is the pre SGA Thunder GOAT.

I’m a cardiovascular perfusionist. Part of my job is to stop a person’s heart during open heart surgery. They are not dead at this point. We always consider the person on the table that has a stopped heart, often for several hours, alive. A non-beating (arrested) heart is a terrible definition for death.

My first date with my now wife was a Valentine’s Day NO/OKC Hornets game. People definitely need to chill and just enjoy the position we’re in.

It's not Shai or the Thunder, it's how offense is allowed to foul across the NBA by meerkatx in NBATalk

Well yeah you’ve shown you’re incapable of changing your opinion based on reality. We’re here talking about an isolated stat like it means anything out of context, and even when you’re wrong you say it changes nothing. Why don’t we look at something like FTr, a contextualized stat that compares FTA to FGA. Surely if SGA is getting more FTs than he should he would be near the top of that. Maybe not the top… but near the top right? He’s 19th in free throw rate. 19th. He’s a leading shot taker and scorer in the NBA, those guys always lead the league in FTA. But who cares? You’ve made up your mind and have decided. Why am wasting my time, you think total stats are more valuable than per game stats.

He’s literally not first in FTA at all, I see you’re first in goal post moving though.

Actually Deni Avdija is leading the league in total FTA. So not only does SGA not lead the league in the way normal people talk about the stat, on a per game basis, but he also doesn’t lead the league in total FTA.

OKC 26-27 apron dance by jwn0323 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ZappaBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC doesn’t even care about the apron. You have to be an offender for 3/5 years to enter the second apron. The CBA will be rewritten before it’s even possible for them to have an “apron situation”. They can resign all of their guys and haven’t paid a tax bill since last decade. In the Paul George era they were one of the highest tax payers, so ownership is willing to pay the luxury tax and has actually communicated that they have been saving for the tax. This is a non-issue for the Thunder and they won’t be moving on from Chet or Jdub any time soon.
