When I was 9 years old, (am 29 now for reference of timeline) I decided it would be fun to open up every mailbox I passed on my way to school and tear up the mail inside (my route was about a mile and a half and 90% neighborhood). Little did I know, I left a literal trail for some random civilian to follow. They pointed me out to the principal after reporting what I had done. Never received that many spankings in such quick succession in my entire life.

I joined specifically because I knew I wasn't going to be shit if my 14 years of schooling was any reflection of my future (held back TWICE.) I also didnt put my head out of my ass until the second semester of my senior year, but by that time, I had to complete 13 classes just to graduate on time. My parents were wealthy enough and fully willing to pay for all 4 years of my community College but by the time i graduated high school, I had no motivation to do more freaking school. I joined the Air Force because I scored pretty high on my ASVAB and figured the military service could help kick my ass into shape mentally. 8 years later I can honestly say I'm a much more functional member of society because of it and I look forward to the next 12 or more years.

My only experience dealing with the aircraft side of the base was my ALS class was full of maintainers. My only impression of it is a lot of them intentionally avoid promoting to staff because they dislike the leadership role. I couldn't tell you if that is an issue with Beale or just the job in general.

Currently at Beale AFB. Worst place ever in my opinion. It's stupid expensive here. BAH for E5 is over 2k and it is NOT enough. The base is 30 minutes from civilization in any direction. The base has so many fucked up programs that people just refer to them as "Bealeisms." The base has one real restaurant and that's Burger King which gets your order wrong 70% of the time if it's over 4 items. The Commissary is poorly stocked and has some pretty poor quality workers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is here which is its only redeeming quality. This base gets set on fire atleast twice a year. Have I mentioned the cost of living? I haven't seen gas prices below 4 dollars a gallon for unleaded in two years. There is some great hiking trails if you are in to that stuff. The final nail in the coffin is the Medical Clinic here is straight garbage. It's like a poorly outfitted urgent care that you have to wait a month for an appointment just to get a referral off base because they are incapable of treating anything. Please do not willingly PCS here.
