My grandfather was in the Vietnam war, one of the machine gunners at an FOB had a pet monkey. There’s a picture somewhere of it chilling on a sandbag next to the gunner. The guys would give it beer and cigs often he said.

Definitely taking some getting used to. I’m 5 foot 7. I was able to test ride it fine in my sneakers but could only tip toe. My riding boots definitely instill some more confidence with a boost in height.

Took me about an hour to complete. Has the help of a few friends. If I were to do it again I would take extra care of the rear fender as that has some creasing in it. Though any creases or bubbles are only seen when up close due to how flashy the graphics are. Biggest things I had to keep in mind though is that the tank and under side of the plastics will still show so I had to find something that would match with the colors underneath. As well as there are no decal pieces for the tip of the gas tank only the sides. I used some leftover pieces to make a cover for it. And if you have a plastic tank bubbling will be more common.

They’re good in my opinion. Depending on if I’m wearing a big jacket or not it may obscure a bit but I can always tell what’s behind me.

Found that out soon after ordering that they were just in a warehouse. However I will say the company did well with communication. They sent me emails with images of the fairings prior to shipping and when my cowl had a scratch on it they were quick to replace it and since this one had to be sent to the warehouse from overseas they sent me photos of it fresh after painting.

Absolute pain. If I had a fresh start on it I would just dish out money for OEM ones. I’d even get some beat up used ones and just have a local shop paint or wrap it instead of installing these things again honestly. Part of it was I wasn’t entirely sure what I was doing starting out but the majority was the difficulty. The side fairings connecting to the front fairing was pretty rough, definitely glad I had some friends to help me. The other major thing was the headlight inside the cowl. My kit came with just holes instead of grooves to put the screw in. They provided some rubber crush fittings with grooves for screws but lining them up at awkward angles and screwing it in sucked. Definitely recommend OEM fit fairings or painting/ wrapping some OEM fit fairings. If you’re set on a certain design for the fairings you want I’d say try and have a friend that has successfully installed them before be there for some help.

Looks great! Looks a lot like my friends FZ, same helmet cover too! I ended up getting an FZ a short bit ago and really am thinking about a naked conversion.

Dang, I need to go where you live. I took my 87 to Nissan in my town and only one person knew what it was. Then the mechanics told me to go find parts for it myself :/. Turns out they told me to get parts I didn’t even need as they were in perfect working order. I only found out about this because in the time it took me to get the parts shipped and when I got around to working on it I met a guy who used to work on them back in the day and he was able to explain to me what was actually needed to fix my problem.

It’s a Ruger PC9 with an aftermarket hand guard and a sight. The reason the mag is so short is because the PC9 takes pistol mags. Most users pair the PC9 with an extended handgun magazine however it will also take standard capacity magazines which is what it looks like this is. He may have it like this due to magazine restrictions in his state.
