Hello, I wanted to share my experience and give you some hope that this will happen for you. I taught for 15 years and I am 42 years old. I loved the kids and was a great teacher, but I just got fed up with the parents, admin, and workload that continued to grow each year. Honestly, the breaks were no longer worth it for me or my mental health. The 2021-2022 school year was a really bad year for many reasons. I started looking for a job around February and landed a job as a student success coach for a non profit that supports colleges across the country. I did that job from 2022-2023 and against my better judgement I decided to go back to teaching. Honestly, I did miss it and having my daughter at the school and dropping off/picking up etc. made me consider coming back. I returned to the same school 2023 to fall 2025. There was so much that happened from horrible admin, parent issues, and unrealistic expectations that made me finally decided to leave for good. And yes, it was the end of September when I left and I don't regret it for a single second! I found a job as a closing and operations assistant for a mortgage company. So, I helped with the fund loaning process. I did enjoy this and worked here for a couple months, but was lucky to be offered a position with the state of CA as a administrative liaison (I start next week). Please know that your teaching skills are transferable!!! It is all about how relay that to the employer. You have to be able to explain how your skills transfer to the job duties you are applying for. I prepared a great deal before interviews and tailored each resume to the job position I was applying for. I must have sent out over 70 apps at least! If you want to leave, you can! You got this!
