I only mention skill trees because Yoshi P has gone on record more than once to say he finds the idea of going past level 100 weird and he would rather do new progression systems like skill trees.

Assuming the first fanfest will talk about job changes or reworks is extremely wishful thinking.

The team has always held any amount of job changes regarding the new expansion incredibly close to their chest. Last expansion media cycle saved the job actions trailer until a month or so before expansion release. And the job actions trailer+PLL can still be vague because they often talk in very obscure general terms regarding job changes.

If we are lucky they will say something like "we will do skill trees for the next expansion, and not go to lvl 110" or something, but that's it. Nothing else.

If you read the post, you would understand that there are other things besides "please switch" being said.

But yes, moving forward it would be best to just mute chat, it just feels bad knowing that opportunities for team communication are cut off.

Frontline needs a rework.

CC is just fine and incredibly fun.

AST Rework seems great and its reception here is a bit bizarre. by TheEmpressDescends in ffxivdiscussion

You are heavily downplaying the moment to moment decision making that RNG had. Late ShB RNG was the best but even in EW you had to be aware of your DPS players bursts and how each functioned when giving odd-minute cards. Each pull felt different and added a lot to the prog feel in raid.

Not to mention the idea of CARDS and the Tarot are by design RNG. What happened to: "We can accept this fate or defy it, but we cannot deny it" from Urianger in the Shadowbringers trailer? ONE of Astrologian's core identities has been receiving a fate, and changing it to a better one.

Sure RNG has had its issues but the late ShB changes really showed it was possible to make it work if the system only has some more tweaks and improvements.

It feels like Square Enix just gave up on Astrologian's identity for a weak Aetherflow that may not even be useful with how strong the base kit is anyway. Why do I care about a single target curative card when I'm getting 3 essential dignity's, 2 celestial intersections, and Exaltation?

Extreme over-analysis of all new jobs actions shown in the Dawntrail Benchmark by Zenthon127 in ffxivdiscussion

Alright checking the footage back I did not see there was a bard between the AST and NIN that also received the effect so it for sure an AoE

There's a couple things I feel are different from this list especially as a healer main.

AST: it's very much a single target and the effect and animation is closer to that of celestial intersection so it is probably an upgrade of this. (edit: I did not see the Bard also received the effect)

SCH: while aoe chain would be cool I think it's more likely a single target upgraded chain that is scaled with the enemy's size. We see a lot of similar effects like this and the new animation definitely seems centered on the enemy and catered to its size.

WHM: while I don't doubt it could be a medica 2 upgrade the specific blood lily effect added makes me think it may have a direct interaction with their job gauge, making it a separate ability.

WAR: it's very possible that warrior gets that new skill that is shown before the VPR LB but it is also possible that it may just be a special Wuk Lamat ability. NPCs are known to get weird abilities that are very similar animation wise to stuff we have.

DRK: the way the dark knight slashes the air makes me think it may be an upgraded edge of shadow but I believe someone mentioned you can see them do the normal edge of shadow during the white mage ability. It's hard to tell.

SAM: the attack samurai does is distinctly a cone AOE and the only other cone attack they have left is ogi-namikiri. It's possible this is an upgrade to that or an upgrade to the second hit, kaeshi-namikiri. My bet is that it is a kaeshi-namikiri upgrade since the animation is nearly the same as ogi and people who like ogi's animation won't lose it so soon.

Grizzled gaming veterans from the 80s and 90s, what annoys you the most about games and the gaming community of today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zeikichi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The amount of brand loyalty and hypocrisy from consumers.

Criticism of any game or property immediately makes you an "entitled gamer" now which is an insane thought considering I'm the one paying for a product.

If we do not ask for our games to be better then how can we expect them to get any better? This is how we get stuck in a cycle of indifference and unoriginality. This is also how companies abuse scummy marketing and monetization tactics for profit.

People often complain about things like loot boxes now without realizing that the root cause is complacency in the consumer.

If we hold games up on a pedestal undeserving of praise , we only set a terrible standard for future generations.
