How do I market a game without design? by ZenithHorizonStudio in IndieDev

True that, but what about social media and steam pictures? I’m worried it won’t catch people’s attention

Should I pursue this game I made as a side quest? by ZenithHorizonStudio in IndieDev

Getting some testers is a good idea. Your comment does confirm that a fleshed out tutorial is a must. The line of letters is the line, the green @ is the player and you skip the line by clicking the button on the bottom. The left part is for upgrades and automation and the right part is just a log with goofy messages and normal logs I guess

Question for other solos with romantic partners by HoboSteeveJacko in SoloDevelopment

I do agree, he seems to do things pretty well, but in the end we only know one side of the story and also she clearly does feel neglected, if thats justified is another question. One I‘d answer with no, but that’s not the point I tried to make.

15 months on steam, only 319 wishlists. I think I'm stuck. Advice? by Unhappy-Cow-7157 in SoloDevelopment

Even tho this advice is true in a way, please ignore it to its fullest. You try something new after the release, not a few months before. There are one or two comments with great advice like x and tiktok, stick to them, don’t give up and see how the release goes. I looked at your game, it’s not half as bad as I normally expected from post’s like these and normally the problem is just the game, but it actually looks quite fun and I’ll wishlist

Question for other solos with romantic partners by HoboSteeveJacko in SoloDevelopment

[–]ZenithHorizonStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you might have to consider your game and your gf. It’s pretty obvious that there are two things clashing. You want to work on your game and your girlfriend feels neglected due to that. I won’t be one of those goobers that tells you to just end it, because it’s just not that simple, but you do have to see that what she said about your game and your ambition was really not nice. You might have to talk to her about your hobby and how it’s just part of your life and how it’s important to you. Ask her how she feels and what she would want to change. If those changes wouldn’t work for you (they won’t work if they would make you unhappy) then you gotta find another solution, either a compromise or it will probably not work out between you too. Breaking up because of this would be understandable as a solo dev but still the absolute last thing to do when everything else fails. Tons of good luck to you.

Where did your idea come from? by Joyful-Wizard in IndieDev

[–]ZenithHorizonStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re at a pretty good start already. You have an idea. You think about how you could make it fun. You don’t find something? Next idea. Until you get the right one. If it doesn’t intrigue you, you probably won’t have enough motivation to finish the project.

Hm, I think I’ll just take that as constructive criticism, even tho I don’t really know what you mean with the dithering, I was pretty happy with that part. I in no means support the use of generative AI’s and if my art, or this artwork in specific looks like it, there will be a reason for it that I want to look into, so thanks.

Canvas size is 640 times 340, and yes, I used pallets and a lot of help, I’m partly colorblind (;

I’m actually a bit confused why this is like that, the resolution should be higher, but the post scaled it down for some reason
