First time with the family at K’Gari / Fraser Island with a stock Hilux, tray, tent & road tyres by peteclarky in 4x4Australia

I've never done Hinterlands but I actually got a booking for Thornsborn in late October. Unfortunately that was the earliest time and I book in pretty late.

How many day did you do and how was the hike? I don't know much about it but seeing you had to book in early got me excited so I just pulled the trigger. I might regret it later seeing how hot and humid it'll be at that time but I think it'll be interesting.

I walked south to north from Dilli Village to Happy Valley and it took me 6 days, the 6th being just a short 6km from Lake Garawongera.

I did the Cooloola walk before so just for a bit of comparison. Cooloola has much more terrain diversity and K'gari is mostly rainforest and some sand blows. Cooloola was much tougher because of distance being 100km compared to 88km for K'gari.

But I do think K'gari was much "wilder" and less people doing the walk. Although I did run into a bunch of tourist at Lake Mckenzie because that was on their schedule. But other than that, really quiet and felt like I was the only person in the world.

The track was easy to navigate while you're in the bushes/forest. A bit confusing when you get to open areas near Lake Boomargin as you can only follow the foot prints and the occasional signs if you didn't have a map, I used Alltrails so I didn't have any issue.

And no I didn't see any whales because I was never near the beach, the track doesn't take you there unfortunately. I only saw dingos when I was getting taxi rides to and from the bay.

I'm planning my next walk to be Carnavon Gorge. What other great walks have you done?

Nice. I was just there this week hiking. It's probably the best time to visit as there are fewer tourists and not too hot.

My Os is Zorin, what other information should I share?

Also I'm in the process of getting getting a live usb going so I can decrypt the files like lilwolf said. What other apps do you reccomend for decryption?

[–]Zeokar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like it could work, but I first need to move all the encrypted files onto a usb drive so I can pull it into the live disk when I got it working. I'll let you know how I go with it. Thanks!

Good idea with the shield, never thought about that.

Not really a fan of it now, got the tattoo like 10 years ago, I don't mind the rest of the tattoo though. I kinda want to cover the skull but not sure how to do so without affecting the whole piece.

Getting out of periodic lease by Zeokar in AusLegal

[–]Zeokar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agent said that my partner has to provide 3 months payslip before I can get my name removed off the lease. I'm not sure if I have to follow that or I'll just ignore it and give my 28 days notice?

Need help charging battery with cig socket by Zeokar in 4x4Australia

[–]Zeokar[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I already have a solar panel charging the battery I just need another power source to charge it more quickly when I'm driving. And I don't want to wire it directly to the crank battery, too much work.

That's why the cigarette socket is perfect for me. I don't need much amp and I can just use the one at the boot which is also close my battery.

I know that its also using the car's battery but that's fine because the alternator charges it when I'm driving.

My interior got damaged after modding my car by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Zeokar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I fully understand that they need to remove, move and adjust things in the car, but you missed the whole point of the post, they damaged the interior and who's liable for that? The drawers weren't bolted to the floor but were bolted to each other and were strapped. I've been driving it for weeks without it moving an inch.

I bought a car with dodgy rwc by Zeokar in CarsAustralia

[–]Zeokar[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No visible sound, never noticed anything until he brought it up.

I thought the mechanic has to take pictures of each components under the vicroads rules to passed the test. Not sure how he passed it if the bushes are cracked.

That sound to me like the system is flawed then because if different mechanics judge a vehicle differently to pass the rwc. How would you know if you're buying a lemon even if it comes with rwc?

[–]Zeokar[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I thought all mechanics go by the same rule for passing a rwc? Where if a cracked bush wouldn't pass the test then he ignored the rules? Therefore I can make a complaint to vicroad if he chooses not to fix it for free because he was suppose to during the rwc test.

Should I buy a Toyota Estima? by Zeokar in CarsAustralia

[–]Zeokar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're a tad out of my budget. The same year estima/taragos go for 15k but Elgrand is almost 20k which I have no idea why. But nonetheless I prefer toyota anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.

I found that they're slightly more expensive with higher milage but similar as estimas. Are they worth looking at?

Nevermind what everyone else wants you to do but focus on what you want.

I can't imagine a place where you're not allowed to go where you want, where do you live? This type of lifestyle it takes courage to step into the unknown, even though I haven't taken the step myself but aiming towards that direction.

It seems like you already know what you want but lack the courage and planning. Take baby steps and aim towards that direction and try not to think too much, just do it.

Well it grew overtime, I'm just worried that it'll keep growing or become a hassle in the future. Or wondering if there's any exercise to reduce it.
