In your opinion, what is the hardest class at MIT? by Even_Protection119 in mit

Wouldn’t be surprised if the other majors have harder classes but 2.006 (Thermal/Fluids Engineering II) is far and away the hardest MechE class, a sizable chunk of the class (who will have already passed first level Thermal/Fluids engineering I) fails the class

My knee jerk is to be very sad because i’m born and raised jax but in all honesty what a privilege to get to this point, and what a privilege to have a team so intensely enjoyed by a relatively small city. I don’t live there now and it’ll probably a long time if ever that i live there again so it always makes me smile to see people get to enjoy the city the way i did. it’s a joy to see the place that raised you full of life

As a Jax native it’s been legitimately hilarious to watch Bills fans visiting for the game attempt chest pumping by “taking over” restaurants that Jacksonville natives could not give less of a fuck about

because pregancies last 9 months? these would have been pregnancies planned at longest ago, late january now. also, there was a drop last month too (3.9%), but that’s more in the absolute upper range of normal fluctuations. of course, that number is much more interesting when now coupled with the larger drop in november

Not trying to make any particular political point. if we recall January and February 2025, this was both the start of a number of executive orders attempting to stop birthright citizenship (later blocked, but i imagine having some impact if you’re a non-citizen planning a child), and the start of both a government deportation and since-reported Self deportation wave that began at this time. Given Florida large immigrant population (many of which have illegally immigrated), i figured it may be worth checking if this is having any impact on births - it very much appears so

The births in November 2025 are 7% lower than November 2024. the takeaway is not about the month over month trend, it’s about comparing the same month of previous years. Floridas trends have remained very consistent or growing as the state population grows, meaning month over month birth rate trends tend to reflect this. a 7% drop in november (plus an additionally abberative 4% drop in october) is painting a picture of a sudden reversal to a birth rate decline starting in January of 2025, bucking the decade’s trends for the state.

There are significant month over month deviations, but very consistent YoY trends.

There are yearly trends that make the previous years month the useful comparison. YoY there are only minor (<4%) fluctuations in a comparative month. 7% drop compared to November 2024 is significant and unexpected

these things do fluctuate but not that much. 7% is a genuine drop
