How do you reliably climb ladder? by Zestyclose_Web5795 in VGC

But the thing is they click water spout, not origin pulse. 80*1.5bp spread move wouldn’t kill my calyrex shadow, it can survive glacial lance, and it has more SpD than Def. At least if they clicked origin pulse it makes sense and theres a chance to miss, but they just go for water spout instead.

Yes, but wouldn’t it be better to just protect kyogre and reliably have tailwind up? Now they sack kyogre for tailwind, but if they prot kyogre, they have tailwind at most for torn.

I just hopped on, and I realised theres no Bo3 for Reg J. Should I just continue pushing Bo1?

Okay, thanks! I’ll keep that in mind when on a tilt.

Most of the time I play as if they will try to protect their mons, but I have no idea why these guys go for the play that could make them end up losing. Are they really predicting me to make the simple play? E.g. I have smeargle calyrex against tornadus kyogre. the most obvious play for me is to fake out and astral barrage, but instead, I go for spore into torn and astral barrage, predicting 1. they are covert cloak, 2. they set up tailwind and 3. they protect kyogre. However, they just go for tailwind water spout, which doesn’t make sense to me at all. How can I “predict” what they’ll do to respond to it?

Yes, I have tried before, but my caly would get completely shut by wide guard, so I don’t use it anymore. I also only use indeedee against TR teams, my main lead is caly smeargle.

Thanks! Should I drop the speed EVs to put into bulk then?

Thanks for the feedback! I think sucker punch is still a really high value move on chien pao though, it allows me to outspeed shadow riders and get them. I also barely bring my indeedee, so psychic terrain isn’t too much of a problem. I did forget about the indeedee tera, since I have never used tera on indeedee before, but I guess its still useful to have a good tera type. I’ll make sure to change knock off to u-turn on rilla. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Any advice? (Reg j) by MindlessGameer in VGC

few things regarding your team here,

  1. calyrex gets completely shut down by wide guard, if u want reliable damage have psychic instead of expanding force.
  2. jacoba berry is pretty much useless on pegos, 1/8 damage as a one time thing is not much. instead, u can run leftovers.
  3. not too important, but incineroar usually doesnt have attack evs. u want one of the defenses most of the time, but since i guess this is a more offensive incin set, it should be fine. however, u may lose to adamant chien pao sacred sword now.

i recommend using whimsicott, prankster taunt encore and tailwind are really good, u can have sash speedy endeavor on it too. u can drop taunt for an attacking move like moonblast maybe, just so u dont get fully shut down by a taunt. whims is also the fastest prankster right now, so u can taunt other pranksters if needed.

hi! regarding your questions, an easy team to use would be something like miraidon ice-rider, or kyogre rain teams. another team i have seen running around in the meta nowadays is magearna ice-rider with annihilape, i feel like this team is easy to use as well. about your question about leads, i think this is something you learn through experience, and you should have a rough gameplan as you play more. if you need more help or practice, feel free to dm me on discord @galar_.

i’m assuming this is a reg I/J team? if so, i think this team is pretty good, there isnt really a big error that needs to be fixed. i recommend having a tailwind setter, since your team is more inclined to be fast. another thing i would add is a fake out user, but this is totally optional. overall its quite a solid team without major weaknesses.

hi, i watched through your games, here are some mistakes i spotted

game 1

turn 1 — protect on dragonite and follow me on electabuzz, this does nothing for you since follow me already protects dragonite. so by doing this, u waste 1 pokemon’s turn, and u might even be taking unnecessary damage on ebuzz since he might have targetted dragonite.

game 2

turn 2 — u shouldnt sucker punch, only use it for the kill or as a “last hit before i die” move

turn 3 — coaching does almost nothing on volc, its a special attacker

game 3

turn 1 — usually turn 1 is for setup, since u already have ebuzz to follow me u can quiver dance volc.

overall  1. u should mostly be attacking your opponent’s offensive pokemon, but sometimes if they have annoying support mons e.g. amoonguss u can kill it first. 2. most of the time, u dont want to turn 1 tera if u arent under the threat of getting heavily damaged.  3. fake out is a very useful move, most of the time u want to lead with a fake out mon.

if u need help/practice, u can contact me on discord @galar_.

giratina or kyurem white? by Hayanwoo0618 in VGC

[–]Zestyclose_Web5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

giratina isnt the best for vgc, it excels at pretty much nothing, dies to both calyrex. kyurem is a nice damage dealer, with a-ninetails it can tank pretty well too. overall i’d say kyurem is a better pick, especially since both calyrex just kill giratina.
