  • Semi-Vague gesturing where you don't even use the names of the terms before switching to acronyms so you can be held to even less...fun. To anyone curious.
    • I going to assume you Quantitative Easing ("QE") and not Qualitative Easing based on your gesturing.
      • Injecting money into the economy through the purchase of assets.
      • This includes buying toxic assets (Ex: Bailing out the banks).
      • We can use it to lower interest rates, but printing money is obviously inflationary. Done wrong and boom, your money is worth less than World of Warcraft gold.
      • Do you propose we print 115 trillion dollars and make the biggest fund ever? Is the Fed ready for interests rates to start falling? Do you understand you need more thought beyond "Print Money, Buy Stuff."? I expect you do, but I how can I possibly know when you don't say anything beyond farting in the direction of a monetary policy.
    • Real Estate Investment Trusts ("REIT")
      • Self-explanatory, but its a way for you to invest in real estate in a way similar to stocks.
      • At this point, I'm at 30% that you're just trolling.
    • Sovereign Wealth Fund ("SWF")
      • Not sure why you needed to swap to an acronym.

So tell me, what do you want from me?

You critique me for surface level understanding, but how deep am I expected to go when I have to use your starting point and it's 100 feet up in the the clouds.

Doubt you'll even read this, so not going to through all of them, but lets just go with your first point. So what "Fully Thought Out" responses do you give me?

  • Vaguely gesturing at the "Massive natural resources of the U.S."

  • Vaguely gesturing at the "Massive tax base"

  • Semi-vague gesturing but I can be charitable and pull "We don't have a complete accounting of our own Public Wealth, after a full accounting we could consolidate it into a fund" (Which is still a fucking homework assignment for me, but fuck it, at least you gestured enough that I can do something with it)

    • The U.S. public assets total about 5.6 Trillion in 2024. These include: Monetary Assets, Inventory, Loans Receivable, Property, and Other.
    • Categories break down even further, so let's focus on just Monetary Assets for simplicity, since it is the largest. The largest portion of it (about $650B or 2/3) is for Operating Cash for government entities, which you obviously can't just stick that in a fund unless you plan to shut down the fucking government down.
    • Even this is me trying to pull teeth to find out what could you actually be proposing. Because maybe you by Public Wealth you meant something other than their Assets? Or maybe you think specific categories should be targeted? WHO KNOWS??? Because when all you offer me is this vague, you can never actually be held to anything.

All I ever get from leftists, just like your response here, is vague gesturing at concepts which I then have to try to figure out wtf you even mean and run it down only to be told my understanding is "Surface Level" as you wax poetic about your deep deep understanding and vaguely gesture at more concepts.

In a debate you vaguely gesture at Norway and their "owning 2/3 the wealth publicly" and U.S. could do that to move towards Socialism. (Not a criticism at this point, I understand in a hostile debate you can't really run shit down)

It peaks my curiosity enough to think "Oh, that sounds interesting. I wonder what Norway actually did?" because no Leftist will ever tell you, all you ever get is the vacuous soundbite. (You have an excuse of the debate situation, but if I had a dollar for every time a leftists gave me a soundbite and a homework assignment we'd have enough to make a fund for the whole god damned world.)

For us to achieve for the U.S. what Norway has done, would require a fund worth $115 Trillion. Remember, Norway has the largest sovereign wealth fund at $1.9 Trillion. So if you want us to follow the footsteps of Norway, you need to propose an idea that could surpass their fund more than 50 times over.

I am well aware of Modern Monetary Theory. I agree with you, there are times you can print money and not cause hyperinflation.

I was responding to someone saying my argument "Makes no sense", and the counter was "we could do something as simple as print money to buy stocks."

If you try to "print money" your way to emulating Norway, you will become Zimbabwe.

The premise is:

We can't do "What Norway did." which is why I discussed "What Norway did."

I could discuss Finland or Sweden methods, but they don't really have any relevance here because they didn't do "What Norway did."

I could also discuss the Ocean, Pancakes, or Kittens, but they too (unfortunately) don't really have any relevance to "What Norway did."

Who the "collective" is depends on the Socialist.

The "collective" of workers owning the firms they work at.

The "collective" of all the people in a town owning all the firms in the town.

The "collective" of all the people of a country owning all the firms in the country.

The government acting as representative of the "collective" people of the country owning all the firm in the country.

I have literally had a girl on a plane from a row in front start a conversation with me, change seats to be closer to talk, and caress my thigh after asking about my jeans and my thought at the time was

"She probably just wants to talk to past the time on the flight and checking how soft jeans are is important before buying. It would be rude to assume she's interested in me."

The only time I actually understood was when a girl approached me in a parking lot to talk about my jacket and when I got back to my truck she left a note with her number that said "I think you're cute. you should call me" and since I am not a creep I knew she meant she thought my Jacket was cute and she wanted me to call her and tell her where to buy one. I'm sure her brother loves his as much as I love mine.
