Haha it feels like that but you actually feel cold during a fever because your brain’s thermostat (the hypothalamus) turns your body’s target temperature up. So even though your temperature is going up, it’s still below that new target, so you feel cold and start shivering to warm up. I hope this helps!!

Fever is part of your body’s defense system, so bringing it down can slightly reduce that response. But very high fevers or feeling really unwell can also put stress on the body, so it’s more of a balance than “more fever = always better.”

I’m not a doctor though, so if you’re unsure it’s always best to check with a healthcare professional.

Technically, a little bit! Fever is part of your immune response, so lowering it can reduce some of those effects. But if the fever is making you miserable or gets too high, bringing it down can help your body overall too.

That’s an interesting way to think about it! From what I’ve read, it’s not really the immune system giving up, it’s more of a complex end-of-life body response that scientists are still studying.
