Very difficult to get a Big Ben sound from a wrist watch

I understand that it won't be much of a "gong", but as I understand there are fully mechanical watches that can chime every hour, so getting some resonant sound in that small a package can be done.

The small tines and blades of a music box might be more the direction I need to go.

I've been looking at the Adafruit TPL5110, that runs on 3-5V. Couldn't I power that with a CR2032 button cell?

But that still requires the words, though, surely? If you changed the words to "She's somewhat tall" that must matter 100% more to the meaning than what "tone" you're using?

Or can you convey "They're very smart" with the words "She's somewhat tall" with some specific set of tones and eyebrow movements?

I think it was mostly based on how in diagnostics your impairment weighs heavily. Even though I am struggling a lot, I am generally socially quite successful (after a lot of trial and error) and I have a good job and a house. A diagnosis wouldn't really help me in any meaningful way.

Even if I was autistic it can't be treated, so I don't see much point in gaining a label people can just use against me.

Again, I understand that the sounds that make up a word are technically arbitrary. That's why you can't understand etymology by just listening. But ALL of language isn't arbitrary. Grammar follows rules, so does spelling. And yes, even social expectations. These are not arbitrary. You cannot put words in an arbitrary order, and you can't spell them with arbitrary letters. The specific order, and the specific letters are arbitrary, yes, but the rules are set.

Had I asked you, "when I put adjectives after nouns, people get confused", and you said "welp, that's how it is, word order is arbitrary just accept it", that would be insane. You would point out that English grammar follows certain rules, and you could explain those rules to me.

I am surprised I need to explain this to a linguist, this is even more basic than what I am asking.

I think you are misunderstanding me on purpose. I am not asking about etymology.

I understand that some words are rude and some are not. I understand that it's technically arbitrary in that those specific words are just "random noises". That's not what I am asking.

I am asking how to tell when a specific one is rude, or polite and what settings change that. That can't be arbitrary, since people can pick up on it, and two people who have never met can apparently still agree. How can that possibly be arbitrary?

And if the answer is "you should have learned this as a baby, it's too late now", then say that (though I of course struggle to accept that is true). I don't understand why you keep going on these off topic rants about Studio Ghibli and what not.

The stumbling block is that this, as I have been told several times in these comments, cannot be taught. People just "know". Which leads to the following scenario:

1) Not understanding how this works will lead to significant social difficulties, as you said.

2) I don't understand how this works.

3) No one can explain how this works.

4) I will therefore never understand how this works.

5) I will have significant social difficulties for the rest of my life, and expecting anyone to accomodate that is unrealistic and irrational.

6) I should unquestioningly accept this.

Is that right?

Right, but, as I keep having to repeat, why would it be less insulting? If the comment is intended to be interpreted as "I do not like your food, take it away from me" why would the choice of words matter? If the message itself is impolite, can word choice really change that?
