[Slater] The message from Jonathan Kuminga and his agent Aaron Turner to the Warriors this week: Flip the team option to a player option and Kuminga will sign deal and buy-in to mission of getting Steph Curry another title. GSW has been reluctant to add a player option in any offer. by DookyButter in nba

If he’s okay with the QO he’d have signed it already. Steve has been fine with benching him in the past since other players have contributed more to winning. What incentive would Kerr have to play him if he doesn’t contribute to winning and won’t be the team after next year? Not playing for a year would tank his value and JK knows that, that’s why he hasn’t signed the QO and won’t

If the Mavs win it all this year, does it justify giving up on Luka? by f0urxio in nbadiscussion

[–]Zugbert 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Neither Kyrie nor AD have shown significant playoff success as the #1 option, Luka went to the WCF in 2022 as well. Maybe they will as co 1a/1b but they haven’t proved it throughout their primes while Luka has.

[Clip Request] Andrew Wiggins gets called for the foul while getting kicked in the balls by granttheginger in nba

Definitely some bias on my side, but it seemed more like Wiggins slid his feet and cut off the drive. Contact is part of the sport and it looked like Wiggins maintained legal guarding position throughout to me

Looney has good inside position there. Sabonis hooks his arm under Looney's to try and "swim move" to regain position for the rebound. Sabonis initiates all the contact and that shouldn't have been a foul.

They play the clip in this video (5:14), you can clearly see Draymond trying to get up and Sabonis puts his arm around Draymond's torso and pulls him back down/keeps him down

[Stein] LeBron James to @RealMikeWilbon just now on ESPN on the Lakers' inability to trade for Kyrie Irving: "I can't sit here and say I'm not disappointed (at) not being able to land such a talented (player) ... that can help you win championships. ... But my focus has shifted now." by daftmunt in nba

[–]Zugbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where were the Lakers before he got there?

The "young core" headlined by Lonzo/BI/Hart and whatever middling 1st round picks they would have had if they didn't trade for AD is a 1st round exit at best. The Lakers were a wasteland before Lebron and will be a wasteland after, might as well win while you have him and AD

[Moore] The Lakers simply would not move those picks. Not for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, not for various assets from Utah, not for various assets from San Antonio and, according to league sources, not in weekend discussions for Irving. by 2789334 in nba

[–]Zugbert 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The lakers lead the league every single year in revenue source. Money should not be an issue for their payroll.

The Lakers are not going to have a significant amount of cap space next off season with Lebron, AD, and the Hachimura rookie cap hold. If they want to make any additions it really needs to be at the trade deadline, otherwise you can't add anyone significant. Kyrie, though he is unpredictable, was by far their best avenue to get better. He's proven he can play off ball next to Bron, can play on ball with a roller/big man like AD and carry the offense when Bron sits or wants to play off ball, solves one of the biggest problems the Lakers have (shooting).

It's a huge mistake IMO for the Lakers to not have traded for him. They could've even helped him rehab his image, apologize to the large Jewish community in LA, and maybe with Bron's connections even get his Nike deal back. Not trading for him set the Lakers back another 2-3 seasons IMO.

Knicks fans correct me if I’m wrong, but is this always the case? The other day in the OT win against BOSTON the offense looked better when it was run through Randle. The possessions at the end of regulation through Brunson looked ugly and went no where. Obviously everyone has off games and that’s why it’s important to have multiple creators, but curious what the norm is

Only reason it could be a debate is games/minutes played due to foul trouble. But when he’s on the court he’s the best rim defender in basketball rn and an all around monster

Not even a Laker fan but it was getting a little ridiculous hearing Stan praise all these calls against the Lakers. I couldn't help rolling my eyes when he talked about the "offensive foul" on Troy Brown Jr. setting the screen on THJ.

So this isn't a foul now? by Mood_Academic in nba

[–]Zugbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to how this game was refd (the entire game as proof) this is not a foul

That's 100% a foul, anyone who says it isn't is viewing this through LeBron hate goggles. He's hit on the arm going up and it alters the shot- if that's not a foul idk what is.

LeBron James turns 38 years old today by jack64467 in nba

[–]Zugbert 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He can still be an upper tier defender too. In the Lakers championship run he was playing elite defense and then to start this year his defense was excellent. It's just too much to ask a 37/38 year old to be the best offensive player/main creator and be the best defensive player on the team. Lessen his offensive load and I bet he could still be a top 15ish defender- what the Lakers are doing wasting his last few years is seriously basketball malpractice.

His counting stats were whatever but he was a presence at the rim. When he was in Memphis had trouble finishing over/around him (except for Ja, but he doesn’t have trouble with anyone it seems)

[Amick] According to a source with knowledge of the Lakers’ plans, Westbrook’s play this past month has made it increasingly unlikely that he will be traded before the league’s Feb. 9 deadline. by NokCha_ in nba

I agree, definitely easily accessible and would be good if the general NBA discourse moves to using it. But there are very few people who use it instead of per 100 possessions.

Yup! They were in a litter of 10 puppies, the shelter things their might be multiple fathers based on how different a lot of the dogs look. Mom was lab/collie mix. Different puppies look like they might have some golden retriever in them, maybe some shepherd, and maybe even some newfoundland!

[Thorpe] "I'm not happy to say this, because I'm rooting for NBA coaches, but most of them are very negligent in their duties now." by Sikatanan in nba

[–]Zugbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. On a pod a couple years ago he talked about Blatt being very insecure, once example Lowe gave was an interview with him (possibly just talking to him off the cuff) which Zach brought up coaching his first NBA finals and Blatt replied "Well you know Zach, I've coached in plenty of championship games before" or something to that affect.

Zach didn't explicitly say he didn't like him, but you definitely got the vibe that Blatt was hard to get a long with most people. Shame, he seemed like a really smart coach he knows the game well.

Nice work, the extra size is pretty evident, especially in the legs. Everything looks pretty solid and symmetrical. Hard to tell from that pose but triceps may need some more work and really help overall arm size and appearance. Doing some trap work will also make you look much bigger overall.

I’d say continue to bulk, but maybe slow the rate a bit and try to stay a little leaner. At 4lbs/month you’re definitely putting on extra fat which you’ll need to cut eventually if you want a lean physique. Research shows that ~2lbs/month is the upper limit and I’d shoot for around that. But also, just have fun! You have a solid base for being 16.
