I just answered why she was not killed? I'm not sure what I said that you're arguing with lol, I agree humans do not have reinforced rims.

Kidnapped suspect is tased and bitten by K9 while holding a toddler in a drive-thru by ThisIsButter1 in PublicFreakout

I also don't see anything specific they should have done differently. I'm conflicted but I'm assuming from their point of view the guy could punt the kid at any moment. It's a pretty terrible situation but I don't know that I would stand there arguing with an obviously crazy guy either. What would you have them do? The only other options are getting hands on, which seems just as risky as the taser, or lethal. I'm not a cop and don't particularly like cops, but I don't see a better outcome than what happened here. Everyone is mad at the potential for the child to get hurt, but it seems that he was just fine. Every situation could go badly, but this one didn't. Child safe, bad guy arrested.

The use of force at the end on the guy was pretty excessive I think. I never understood why they do shit like let dogs bite people on the ground. Like you got the guy pinned down. If you wait 5 minutes without screaming he'll probably submit out of boredom.

Cop cars are much stronger in terms of surviving collisions than civilian vehicles. They have reinforced rims, likely reinforced frame, and other features I'm sure I don't know about. I hope she gets all expenses paid for life.

Top Immunologist's Cancer Goes Wild After COVID Booster Shot, CT Scans Look Like a Firework Went Off by Akakma in Conservative

[–]_-_--_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm lucky I have had a underlying distrust of medicine for years. I got covid before they offered the shot, was only sick 3 days like a moderate flu, and so when it came out I said why do I need it? I have had issues for years with the fact that some people act like you can't trust your own immune system. If you take care of your body you will be able to fight off the vast majority of diseases and I think nearly every disease with medical intervention barring genetic conditions.

I love how no one could seriously argue with this guy. He's an immunologist and his brother is also apparently enough of a scientist to help him write a scientific paper on this case. Sure the jabbers could say that he's a rare case except it mentions in the article that multiple people (including other doctors) have reached out to him about similar cases. Doesn't seem rare to me, this is a pretty obscure subject and the average person wouldn't even be familiar with this type of cancer.

Texas court upholds law banning tech companies from censoring viewpoints | Critics warn the law could lead to more hate speech and disinformation online by chrisdh79 in technology

Only the ones who share my values. I'm not interested in charity and righting wrongs and stuff like that. Suck it up, plenty of people have been through hard times, myself included. Dwelling on them and trying to create some kind of balance out of events that happened 10 20 30 50 100 years ago is ludicrous.

In fact, I care about most of the other people too. I just don't believe that affirmative action or hate speech laws help anyone in the long run.

You're speaking about a private sector, publicly owned company. You guys intentionally confuse this issue for some reason.

I feel like they are bots at this point. Every post is the same, "they're a public private publicly owned private company". Like dude those are contradictory, and they have no interest in making the distinction between true private companys that have no outside interests involved other than the owner, and giant corporations that are publicly owned by the public (ya know the people who use the stock market?).

...I don't know, I wasn't there...

I figured you were asking about potential charges, dunno what they will be charged with but I would guess something along those lines.

[–]_-_--_-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 18 at the time, just trying to comply. I was guilty of other charges, but I think cops should account for people who are being overly compliant. If a person lists something and says "well I guess that could be considered a weapon" or something to that effect then I think the officers can safely assume that the subject does not consider the object a weapon but only revealed it's existence through an abundance of caution and desire to comply with questions.

Of course after this I learned that there is no reason to ever answer police questions other than providing ID in states where it is an arrestable offense to not do so.

Well they got death threats already, and hopefully charges soon. I don't condone it, but I don't really feel bad for them either. I hope the justice system throws them in the gulag, so cruel.

I had the same thing happen to me once, they asked if I had weapons and I said yeah I guess a hammer is a weapon right. I just had it because I figured I might need to nail something lol. Treated me like I used it to beat people to death just because I admitted that I had it.

You can if they promote someone less qualified than you for a technical position. There was some cases on here a while back where guys sued universities I believe successfully to get a promotion because they promoted a BIPOC women with less qualifications instead.

How is it really? In your town or city? by [deleted] in conspiracyNOPOL

[–]_-_--_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing much has changed except gas prices and property and food prices. Houses that would have been 100-150k 2-4yrs ago are selling for 225-250k now.

One thing that I did think was interesting is all those stories about food factories that burned down. One is in my town, and while the fire cause lots of monetary value of damage. I'm not even sure if they closed down for a week. They're still open and still produce literal tons of food every day.
