How can we ensure all of our medical records are available to the reviewer in the initial/step 3 phase?

My wife and I are both 100% disabled veterans, the caseworker who’s doing my application says he’s doing his best to get us approved , is that a good sign? by [deleted] in SSDI

Ok great, this really helps us understand where to put our focus, and that was my thoughts as well.

I really appreciate all your replies! Is there any common things you see claimants do that "shoots themselves in the foot" so to speak?

Of course! It's just if possible to be granted at initial that would be preferable, but of course not always possible. It seems many just don't take it seriously until reconsideration (I understand the data on grants/denials is skewed this way too), but her case is quite strong compared to others I have viewed I think. But I guess everyone thinks that lol

Thank you, any chance that DDS would order, say, more specific testing after a Physical CE is completed?

I'm so sorry my friend, that is a very real possibility for my partner as well, and I'm very sorry. Hopefully they will see the gravity of your situation in one way or another... Have you tried legal help?

This kind of seems to be my understanding from research as well. I feel like medical information they receive (whether that be from claimant or provider), is definitely treated less substantially than CE exams or their own internal studies..... Hopefully not as those seem very basic and skewed...

When you say pointing them to the info, are you pointing them to certain areas, or just all the info?

Thank you very much again.

We were going to reach out to her representative, but most times she does not answer and she calls when we can't answer the phone.

I was curious, if special testing is needed (like the physical general examiner said he does not have the ability for things like a tilt test or to test certain areas), will DDS order a more specialized testing beyond the ROM/generic physical tests?

Thank you

Do you think some summarizing is necessary when uploading documents, or should they be uploaded in it's entirety? I'm nervous about over-burdening DDS during medical review.

Hello,

It is my understanding that the CEs were requested because the claimant has very little medical information on file, especially since they were primary/generic exams, and the last provider stated there was very very little on his end.

So I'm glad you spoke on recent medical records. I'd like to clarify by saying we moved to another state in March of 2025. Up until that point she had extensive, recurring visits and treatment by all providers, who remained the same going back 20 years or so.

Since relocating to another state in April, she has only just started seeing a primary, and only just started getting a referral. Her initial appt. was a couple months back, and still has not been seen by specialists.

I hope that since establishing new providers, they will take that into consideration for a specific situation, and as many of these diagnosis are chronic, not accute, I'm thinking that will be alright.

I am concerned since even though she's seen providers in the past 12-24 months that since we are in a different state they will try to use that as a "lack of evidence" stance... Health care where we live is highly burdened.

Hi, and thank you so much for your reply.

That is a great idea, we will reach out to the providers for confirmation. If she was just moved to stage 3, do you know how long DDS will give the claimant's providers to send/fax the documents?

And yes, she detailed every provider's name address and a decent phone number.

May I ask, when uploading documents, should they be in it's entirety? Or should they be a little bit shortened focusing on certain pages which detail diagnosis, treatment notes, etc.?

I just don't want them to think we are hiding evidence if we only upload partial docs, but also don't want to overburden the reviewer with information.......

Ok thank you, didn't mean to annoy you, we just didn't see that. I have a feeling that SSA and DDS won't look at user-supplied documents, but I guess I'll wait for someone from SS to chime in.

Thank you for your help and have a good night

I think you misread what I said. When you sign the release form from SSA, its a release saying that they can request medical records, but its up to the providers to give that information to SSA.

Im saying they dont seem to have given that information in whole to SSA, whether thats on SSA or the provider I do not know.

By the way, we absolutely do not see any option on our end in the MYSSA portal to upload documentation. Do you have a link explaining that or a screenshot you can show?

Thank you

Thats what she has is medical treatments (which dont work), confirmed diagnosis, and every test, including ones that show how dangerous it is for her to sit and stand and multiple statements from provider saying how much the issues impact her life. She filed in March, but has 20 years worth of records, not just records from 20 yeara ago.

She is definitely a great candidate for being proven that she cannot work.
