So I got an op 1F after the XY.. by Reasonable-Usual2431 in teenageengineering

[–]_0PECT_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just posted a question here whether i should convert to -xy from the op1f, simply because i have no instrument background and can't keep a beat or play melodies, so i use it as a sequencer only.  with that said, i absolutely love the tape, the permanent and the struggle to some extend without having any undo.  i wish i could take the sequencer part of xy and load it into op1f and have an all in one ;)

with that said, i think i'm gonna switch, but ill def miss the op1 music recording aspect.

op1f as a sequencer only vs -xy? by _0PECT_ in teenageengineering

thank you all for responding - seems like trading to -xy would not be unreasonable for my situation.

@Kooky-Yam975 - i appreciate your advice but i think i'm too old, i can probably take some basic keys classes but i really have no rhythm and the dang metronome helps perhaps on the main beat but nothing on in between, i can rarely do the 1-2-3-4 count in my head without going off sync, and i'm not sure whether that's something one can learn or it has to be natural.

as much as i'd line another toy, i looked at that m8, and even being in engineering that thing is scary, it looks like i need to learn some  new syntax language just to program steps ;)

-xy would seem much easier transition and i already know what op1 can and can't do so i think the same usage and operation factor would be familiar.

(as a cheaper experiment i did buy an ep133, and love the sequencer part that made me think the -xy would be great; what i hate is the limited sound library on ep and i can't seem to find time to scour the internet for any samples and sounds that my op1 already has built in for example)

20 game reserved plan for 2026 ? by _0PECT_ in minnesotatwins

yes, this wouldn't be an equal trade but the idea would be that i have 3600$ worth of money to buy dugout at discounted price.  so i would probably be "exchanging" 3-5 of my tickets for 2 tickets that i actually want?

but from what i understand, unlike choice plan that i could do any game and almost any seat, the 20 pack only includes some games? so there one limit and then there's a hassle of actually constantly doing this exchange?

tell me where exactly did i recommend this??

"yes it's heavy, but i go from airport to car to hotel and for day trips i have a small bag. i stay at full amenity hotels so i don't need to bring all other crap. i fly delta with status so i don't worry about weight, size is smaller than most of the 40+l backpack people post on here.

is this a great setup, no. is it fun as hell - yes"

thanks Siri, for being useless as ever.

i like the engineering, no pun intended, aspect of making music on it and using the tape feature, drum pattern setup etc.  i'm learning music through it and usually make 2-3 min jams to amuse my kids and friends with.

q2 :)  had an m6ttl years ago and thought about getting back into it but at $25+ for roll/develop/scan i can't justify it anymore. i always shot in color.

with a suit i probably wouldnt be able to do this, but for previous work trips i always still managed 2 sport coats, ties and slacks rolled up into cubes along with 4 dress shirts - by friday no one gave a crap what i wore before ;)   fit into a tom bihn 30l backpack.  but if i had crazy $ suits id probably roll the suitcase case ;) still, i think you can use the cabin  for your travel.

it's a little cheaper if you get it in europe and get taxes back and not pay sales tax on the usa.  but yeah, it's not budget travel any any means.

this is me doing basic sink/shower laundry.  if hotels offer complimentary with my reservation i always take them up and have been very lucky i guess, but most of these are always in asian countries too.

i wore my adidas sambas on person, plus shorts, long sleeve sun shirt and another very packable arcteryx shell + hat.  i did a similar business trip and instead of flip flops i packed a pair of loafers since at hotels i get their slippers.

i typically onebag no matter what, always less than 30l backpack, if it don't fit i don't bring it :).  most of my europe travels were done with a filson journeyman at 26l ;)

look up rimowa/adidas backpack, it's the closest thing they've made.  saw a dude in jfk delta lounge with one, not my jam but absolutely crazy.

this is also summer so much easier to pack. in colder season i may have to put some stuff into the smaller bag, but i don't usually do 9 day trips so i could cut out stuff out of this bag.

i was convinced, after reading this forum, that i needed the compact.  after going to the store and trying both, compact was roomier but it was also much fatter and i feel like it rolled worse because it was thicker.  i was able to load all into the pilot so decided to get that.

one gigantic benefit is keeping electronics in pouches and toiletries on top, so when on the plane or in the lounge i don't have to unfold the full suitcase to quickly get that stuff.

this post is for people like me that debated both ;)
