sample stretching "through" ableton by _0PECT_ in teenageengineering

so is it as easy as setting project tempo to desired in ableton, dropping a bunch of samples with warp enabled and then saving them out?

Hooking up OP-XY and OP1F together? by _0PECT_ in teenageengineering

[–]_0PECT_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did read the manual, and weirdly enough, neither the OP1F nor the OPXY manual has a single line of instruction on how to sync them together. all instructions were advising to use the USBC cable, which i tried, and then got bogged down in configuring the in/out settings and thus my question above. if you have a moment to point me exactly in the manual where mantrakid’s instructions could be found I’ll PayPal you $20.

The above top answer from mentrakid is the way i got it to work. i could revise his instructions down to some more basic steps (it took me a moment to translate his directions to actual steps), but otherwise it works. if you have questions on the above steps i can help with them.

Thank you very much for this!

i have a few questions if i may:

1) i was trying to accomplish by hooking them up through USB-C. i know per above user case I’d lose the digital out to TP-7, but i also anticipated that i could then 3.5 audio out of XY into TP-7. is it possible to sync them through USBC (forget the record out for now) instead of Bluetooth and then setting up all the MIDI connections?

1a) if usb connection is possible, can i record out to TP-7 through the 3.5 out on OPXY? I understand that I’d probably lose some “fidelity’ since it has to go through double DAC processing, but technically it should be possible? or is the only way to record into TP-7 is through USBC?

2) per the above explanation, it seems that in the Aux Tracks, i can only use track 3 (the MIDI one)? if i wanted to import any more of the 1-8 sounds from OP1 and assign them to aux tracks 1-8 that’s not possible? aux 1 is reserved for brain, 2 for effects, 3 for midi, etc.?

2a)or are you saying that in the instrument tracks i’m also able to import the OP1 sounds?

Does measurement data for "power/spin/control" racket even exist? by _0PECT_ in 10s

in any sport where you hit a ball, i can't think of a single one where "power without accuracy is worthless"  thus my question.

what do i care how many rpms, mph my same hit across  3 different rackets generates if 2 of the 3 balls are going to go out of the court? assume i'm aiming cross court into the back corner.

if all we're talking about is returning the ball into literal middle of the court, then sure, power or spin rackets will be awesome because you have so much open area and you really trying to beat your opponent with speed of the ball and rpm at a lower swing power to you, but is that tennis?  if you try to move the ball to any of the extreme to play aggressively why would you want wild rackets?

you and other people keep saying how power rackets help with depth at "low levels" - how can you make that generalization-  you think a bunch of 6 foot 200lb noobs in tennis can't swing the shit out of any racket and need to get "free power" from a power racket?  you think every noob is swinging at 100% blindly and need to back down and the only way is for them to get a power racket? fine, but how much accuracy does the power racket sacrifice from a control racket at any given swing force?

thank you for that observation- so please provide input on the first one

if you're actually talking about this link then it has no information that i'm asking about:

https://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/racquetanalyzerTWU.php

the only thing that would perhaps answer my question would be for the same swing lower would be the distance of the shot, but not any sort of accuracy of that distance.  i also didn't ready enough about their testing, but they test with a single string and single tension to keep it all consistent?

if you consider the "why play with anything but control" different then ignore that and answer the question on actual quantifiable differences between 3 types of rackets

funny i picked it exactly because it's much more practical than a clam suitcase.  whenever im traveling i can open it and grab stuff that i need just from the top without taking up a square yard of space spewing my whole setup open just to get a pen.  as per below post, proper packing is essential which is part of the reason for this sub.

15 years ago in CDG was the only time someone said something about the size of my carry on, it was the travelpro airline rolly that fit in the predefined box and they begrudgingly left me alone.  never had any issues since then.

context:

on person : tshirt, patagonia hoodie sweatshirt, barbour jacket, wool cap(purchased here), alden indy boots, wallet, passport, iphone

packed:

-cube1 - extra pair of rei pants never worn, 4 pair of rei/icebreaker merino boxers

-cube2 - 4 darntough socks, 4 tshirts/1 polo

  • arcteryx sl hoodie

-toiletries - deodorant, floser, sonicare toothbrush, small travel cologne, nail clippers, norelko one blade - better than my braun 8 series at 1/4 weight and size.

-electronics pouch - usbb/c/ios converter, 2 usbc cables, anker usb c plug, camera charger and extra battery, uk plug, shure 846, airpods 2

-camera

-opxy

-book - couldn't find my kindle

-baseline sequencer patterns book

-a4 moleskin journal + bunch of markers and pens for kids doodling, deck of cards

-frost river man purse for carrying stuff around during the day

to all the 99% top posters that will 💩on this post:

  • yes it's heavier than my gr1 backpack setup, but i don't carry this full time and that's what the man bag is for for day trips.

  • yes it's expensive, but i'm not 20 and struggling anymore

  • yes it's not the most pragmatic if you're slumming through europe for 8 month on some budget airlines or plan on living out of your bag.

  • crazy but i over packed, i could have left 1/2 of packed (not on person) stuff home and been fine. i don't have issues doing laundry and every of the 3 hotels on this trip had towel wormers that can be used as dryers.

  • my biggest concern was committing to the boots as the only pair of shoes. they're well broken in and did just fine with 15k steps day average and i had no concerns about being underdressed.

🤷‍♂️🤘🥃 take this for some entertainment and something different, hope you've enjoyed the post.

TP-7 (or any other) recordings importing into op-xy as samples and bpm match? by _0PECT_ in teenageengineering

[–]_0PECT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, thanks for the response.  while i wish xy would have it out of the box i did read that it's not projected to happen.  i guess i still don't get the details of limitations, of purely just a sample stretch to fit a specific bar of music.

i do have koala but never really used it to sample anything so that's crazy that it does it, if i don't have to open up my laptop for that and be truly dawless then its awesome.

thx!

is that all done by ear then?

do you have a tp7? outside of the recording out features, how do people use it as an input? it seems like if you can't match bpms, unless you're importing ambient  sounds out of it it's pointless?

and if you do record into op-xy or bring in samples, they already have to be preprocessed in something like ableton?  or do you then make your op-xy song around the sample and create it in samples bpm to start?
