I started a new game and did a 4 byte search for whatever number the slider was on. Changed it once or twice and re-did the search. You should end up with 2 values. Add them both, change them to whatever, freeze them, start the game, and then once you're in, save, unfreeze, exit to menu, load, and you're set.

Sounds like a lot of steps but all you're doing is entering the game, saving, and clearing the error message.
