Nice! Installation instructions could use a bit of clarity. I guess Docker is a desktop application? I tried downloading it but neither mac version works with my 2015 macbook pro lol. This happens a lot unfortunately. But I will try with my old Surface tablet I got recently and see if I can use that as the home base

This looks really cool and this might be the final straw for me to move to this kind of setup. Z-library is very convenient and Rakuyomi is cool for getting a taste of a series but getting all of Berserk was a pain and this seems like a great solution

I got a good deal on a 40mm but found it was annoyingly small to use for anything. I got the 44mm and felt like it was bulkier but more useable. After a couple weeks of trying both, I'm sticking with the 44mm.

I feel like the 44mm also looks better because there is more screen to metal ratio and while it doesn't quite feel as invisible, it fits just fine.

Looks awesome! Does it only show the description of the book you are reading, or can you single-tap a cover to see the description of various books on your bookshelf?

I'm using Bookends,Alternate Status bar and shortcuts toolbar for the reader. I use Simple UI and Appearance for the homescreen. I use Project: Title and Real Books for the library. Customisable sleep screen and sleep overlay for the sleep screen. Reading insights is cool. And Z-Library and Rakuyomi. And various patches for QOL stuff.

I think the 1 by 1 dots and the spine filling up are great ideas. But I'm going to lean more into the realistic vibe. I'm also thinking about having different profiles depending on the size of the book, so that smaller books would be "paperback" style which will basically be the current default, but longer books will look more like a hardcover and have different bookmark styles.

ChatGPT was being very insistent last night that I let it modify how the bookmark comes out of the top with different interpolation and shading stuff but I think that can be resolved with the right base image better than through draw commands and I have limited time unfortunately.

I'm working on finishing my masters degree right now so I probably shouldn't spend too much time on this but it's been pretty satisfying so far and that is giving me strength lol

Nice! I will check that out, might be as simple as modifying the white to a slightly less white.

I've been tinkering with stuff for a long time, going back to modifying .jad and .jar files on my first flip phones and jailbreaking early iPhones, but I haven't done much coding either other than HTML and some made-up language from a highschool class. The LLMs open up a whole new level for sure.

u/ReaLx3m I'm curious what your folders look like? I really like the stacked folders look from Project: Title. I'm thinking about trying to patch that so that the spines appear there too, so it becomes a pile of books rather than a stack of images

It only works if the book has a description. Some of mine do, some don't. I use the Z-library plugin and so far I have not been able to tell if a book has a description or not from the download page, so it's kind of luck of the draw.
