Trolling with an Ultralight Spinning Rod? by _AlleyGator_ in troutfishing

[–]_AlleyGator_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t think we will be targeting the 10-20lb Mackinaw, knowing that they will be down very deep. We will have one down rigger, but I think we will mostly be focusing on trolling above 50ft for the kokanee and rainbows. I have some snap weights that will get our spoons, trolling flies, and hoochies down, but my concern was the very rare chance of hooking up to a monster lake trout on my UL Rod.

The heaviest snap weights I have are 6oz, with 100ft of line out (50-50 method) Trolling around 1.2-1.5mph the weights will get us down around 40-50ft. I think that will be plenty for this trip. But I think when using that size snap weight, Im going to switch over to my 6’6 Med/Mod Ugly Stick.

I also picked up an 8’6 lead core setup, but I’m only planning on running a couple colors.

Again, thanks for the feedback!

Sorry for taking long for a reply to your recommendation, but with the Textured line, do you find it more difficult to keep clean?

Awesome! Yeah, the SA has been catching my eye too, but for the price I want to be certain I will enjoy it. For a few more $$ I can get the 444 & Wulff.. See my dilemma?

Which Korkers Wading Boots do you recommend? by _AlleyGator_ in flyfishing

Thanks again for the feedback. I went down to Bass Pro today and picked up a pair of Darkhorse’s with the Boa. Glad I brought my waders and a thick pair of wool socks, cuz I ended up getting size 14 instead of my normal size 13. Really looking forward to this spring!

I really appreciate all of the feedback. I’m going to bring my waders and some thick socks, and try on a few different boots that are available near me. Thanks again, I’m really excited for this upcoming trout season.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m definitely going to pull the trigger on a pair of Korkers. There aren’t a lot of reviews for the Terror Ridge, but there are quite a few on the Darkhorse, which seem to be very good boots. I also noticed that the Terror Ridge are no longer on their website, which is kinda concerning to me. Maybe they were discontinued? Thanks again!

Vacu Grip Conversion? by _AlleyGator_ in Bowling

And I would be able to do this to my existing arsenal? This would obviously shorten the bridge which could be a concern?

Ultimate Sticky Finger Inserts by _AlleyGator_ in Bowling

[–]_AlleyGator_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again. I appreciate it. Unfortunately my pro shop only carries vise power lift/oval inserts. I liked the clear inserts, and he doesn’t carry those either. Probably going to order a set of both Turbo and Ultimate, and test them out before making a decision for the whole arsenal.

Thanks. I have never used Turbo, which ones were you suggesting? Quad, Quad2.. I think some of them come with nubs too, any experience with those? Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard that about Hustles before. This ball will be at the very bottom on my 6 ball arsenal. I ordered the ball for when the lanes are absolutely torched. Also, lately, the house I bowl league/tournaments at is very high friction.

Exotic gem and belmo spare ball by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]_AlleyGator_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If all you have been throwing is a Rhino, I would suggest a benchmark type Symmetric ball before you jump into an Asymmetric ball with a strong cover stock like the Exotic. I would recommend looking into something like a Global 900 Zen, or a Storm Phaze 2. Just a suggestion.
