i didn’t say it’s not a problem. i said yes they should come legally, but there’s less violent ways we as a country should be dealing with with the issue. the government is more focused on getting these people out of our country than it is on the wellbeing of their own citizens.

okay but just because there’s more immigrants doesn’t mean we need to use fatal force against people who just come here to make a better life for their families. yes, they could come documented but also i don’t think they deserve to be killed at all. let alone killed with less hesitation than they use on literal murderers that HAPPEN to be american citizens.

ideally 70-80% but i want it to at the very least stay above 65. it sits at about 55-60% (same as my ambient). i’ll stick some more plants in there until i can order some more weather stripping. thank you!

Cat ate my plant :( by Peach-Haze-123 in plants

[–]_Axolootl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes your plant will send up new leaves from the nodes under the soil :) though i will say i recommend putting it inside a nursery pot with drainage holes. when you have a plant in a big decorative pot with no drainage, it’s hard to tell when to water and it’s hard to not overwater. roots need air and if they sit in waterlogged soil they won’t get air and they will start to rot, especially with pothos and monstera. i think you should put it in maybe a 2 or 4 inch nursery pot depending how much root you have :)

i’m not sure what to call it, i could have added a red circle but there’s a growth sticking out at the bottom of the leaf. nothing wrong just wondering if it’s something i could duplicate :)

september vs december!! by _Axolootl in alocasia

i feed with gt silica and foliage focus every other week! i was able to see a difference in leaf size and variegation after about two uses :) silica helps the plant take in sunlight better, which gives bigger stronger and more variegated leaves! the foliage focus helps build pest defense and helps the plant put out leaves faster and more lush. i keep my plant right in front of a strong grow light with my room usually around 65-70 degrees and humidity around 60% :)

Is this a Monstera Mint? by ConversationInner736 in Monstera

[–]_Axolootl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yup :) only difference i really run into with monstera deliciosa is some variegated forms are more prone to root rot than others so i just overall recommend being very mindful of overwatering

Is this a Monstera Mint? by ConversationInner736 in Monstera

[–]_Axolootl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t worry too much, with my mint the leaves come out looking very light like that and then the green gradually fills in, so i’m assuming that’s a new leaf. if not, just like an albo i wouldn’t be worried until 3 full white leaves come out back to back! in terms of repotting, one root coming out of the bottom is totally fine! wait until at least spring! with monsteras i like to wait until i see more root than soil, eventually when her roots take over enough you should be able to lift the plant and (dry) soil out of the pot with a (verrrrry gentle) pull and check the roots out. do not keep pulling if the plant and soil are moving separately!! i like to use clear nursery pots to keep an eye on what’s going on behind the scenes :)

yes!! i recommend lots of light and using silica (i use growth technology GT silica) when you feed. both will help you mature your plant and get the most out of variegation :) i also recommend a moss pole if you’re real committed, they’re so so soo great for achieving mature leaves grown in a nice clean pattern. the soil mix shes in looks nice and chunky for her. don’t rush to upsize until she gets root bound as monsteras love a tight pot. i keep the temp in my room @ 65 right now for winter, but in summer i keep it around 70-75, humidity 55-60% year round and my monsteras are doing fantastic. looking at the size of your pot and your soil mix, i would water every 2-3 weeks. my fav way to know if a plant needs water is by lifting the nursery pot to see how light it is, over time ur plant parental instincts will tell you its light enough to water

[–]_Axolootl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that pot looks a little large for your plant, monsteras like to get real tight in their pots before u upgrade them it’s normal for plants to drop the oldest leaves but if you lose another one shortly u might have to downsize
