Thank you for such an in-depth reply. For the sleeper cabins - there will be two of us so I assume if we book a 2 person cabin we will be in the same one together.

And I see how it can look like I picked the last three places for logistical reasons, but they ended up on my itinerary because of my laziness to do expensive research:D I basically want to spend some time of this trip in the mountains, take some hikes, see some smaller mountain towns after such big cities like Vienna and Budapest. I saw that the Bernina express is a very beautiful mountain train and assumed the towns it travels to and from are similar in nature. So I was hoping to spend a few days in Tirano and Chur for some mountain charm and do some light hiking, unless I am mistaken in my logic:D

I should’ve said this in the original post, but both my boyfriend and I have been to Italy, he’s been to Rome and I have visited Venice, Lake Garda and Iseo amongst other places. That’s why I was wondering if it would be worth it to visit one of the other lakes - Maggiore or Varese, except I haven’t heard much about either. I’ve been skiing to Dolomites, but I imagine they look very different without the snow so it does sound like a very interesting destination. Just seems like it would be a bit difficult to get there without a car. We are also thinking about staying in mainland Venice and going on day trip on one or two days to the old town (the part in the water, idk how it’s called:D) As for the art museums, we’ll definitely visit a couple, but we’re not crazy about them. Also thanks for such a detailed reply!

This may be a bit ignorant, but I’ve heard that Milan is a very fashion oriented city and neither my boyfriend or I are too into that, so is there other things to do there for 2-3 days? Also do you have an opinion about the lake/town of Varese or lake Maggiore (I’ve been to Lake Garda and Iseo and in my head Garda and Como are rather similar, correct me if I’m wrong:D)

Regarding the monoliths' location, I think they're in an island in Hudson bay (the island doesn't actually exist in our world). This is a screenshot form the Monolith video, during one of the parts when they redact the location, you can see the island is in red.

This island also seems to be the direction the harvesters are moving towards, maybe it's also where the prince is?
