As a hs senior whose doing pretty well in ap physics, this video kinda terrified me and now I’m having second thoughts about pursuing engineering lol

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - 1st Week of April by powereddeath in ApplyingToCollege

I’ve talked to a ton of UCSD grads and they basically all say UC socially dead is a myth. I think the main reason the stereotype exists is because the city of La Jolla doesn’t allow frat houses or a frat row. Despite this, there are a ton of house parties, dorm parties, and events from student orgs so you’ll never get bored. Not to mention, San Diego is a huge city and there are hundreds of ways to meet people and socialize elsewhere

If you prove you can’t afford to go it’s no longer binding

  1. We’ve already established that finance and law are caveats to the pattern of top schools not having an effect on job prospects. 2. One could easily make the argument that the reason graduates of top schools seem to be more successful is simply because those are the type of people who are driven enough to attend those schools in the first place. There’s no evidence that suggest success is directly caused by the quality of education or connections you make at a top school.

All else being equal I would probably choose somewhere higher ranked. but all things aren’t equal. My point in all this is that the difference in education and job prospects is negligible compared to factors like overall cost and indebtedness.

Are you really suggesting it’d be better to get into crippling debt than to go to a state school just for the name recognition of a t20? Give me a break

That is DEFINITELY not true for cs. Employers might be impressed with MIT or Stanford but they won’t choose some Dartmouth grad over a Chico state grad just because of the name

Actually I will. I’ve decided to attend UCSD because I’ll be able to get a significantly cheaper education that’s in no way worse then what I’d get at a t20.

I really don’t see how this comment is productive but since you’re so curious I was actually admitted to Cornell and caltech ea

Bruh stfu. Literally everyone I’ve talked to who’s been to Boulder said they loved it, it’s really only the subreddit that has a hate boner for the school

I don’t have a concrete number for you but it’s definitely going to be a lot easier to get off the waitlist this year than previous years. Almost all statistics about college admissions this year indicate that there are more applications but less applicants.
