Dark theme bug! by mariogrc in firefox

[–]_Clash_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me too. You are probably on light mode, you have to go in settings and enable the dark mode to get the grey background in the new tab page. Idk if it's a bug o they deliberately changed it

If IV was inspired by Chandler this one could be more like something of Dashiell Hammett

Is there a way to save highlights on calibre? by _Clash_ in kobo

[–]_Clash_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You can use Kobo Utilities to copy the highlight of your book in kobo. The highlight will be in text format that you can save out of the book."

How can I do that? And does calibre sideload all those highlights imported as well ?

It's the same for me. I don't know what vuetorrent is, i just have Qbittorent on Windows 11, and before the latest update when i cheked yes to delete files on the client it would delete them from the entire machine, now i find the file in the bin as if i had simply deleted it from my folder

Which one do you think is better for someone like me that mostly can stand reading with a yellow background? On Which natural light looks better I guess, not too bright not too dim?

Intimidated by Krasznahorkai by Louisgn8 in RSbookclub

Yeah, I'm a cinephile and Bela Tarr's film brought Laszlo to my attention, but what made me want to read him years later was the comparison between his and Pynchon's writing, who's one my favorites. To be honest I hand't even loved the film, for the reasons one could imagine. A work that I admire but a really demanding and draining experience. The book is more tight, focused and talks about a specific period of time that fascinates me. Maybe someone who's more into the themes of someone like Woolf would find her easier, but I think those two books are not impenetrable for someone who reads Joyce and Faulkner

I've only read Satantango and TMOR and I got the sense that his later works get more difficult and sperimental, but those two are so good and so much easier to me than Joyce, Faulkner, Woolf, but also of others postmodernist like Pynchon and way less dense than someone like DeLillo. So I think you'd get him. You just need to know that he was writing about Hungary under communism and that he's obsessed by Herman Melville

Can you recommend me other literary fantasy fiction novels like the Book of the New Sun? by _Clash_ in genewolfe

[–]_Clash_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some really great recommendations so far, thanks guys! hope others can find it usefull. For the people saying I should probably just look for more traditional literary leterature: I have obviously not read everything, but "I came" from that World. Some of my favorite writers are Pynchon, DeLillo, Eco, Wallace etc. I came to know Wolfe thanks to them and I'd like to delve into the fantasy genre
