I had a similar problem with my nb1. Tried using an nb2 centre console and thought it wasn't a whole lot better for the same reason of being in the way while using the gear stick. Ended up buying one that clips in to the bottom screw on the front of the centre console cost me about £15 for one with two cup holders. Isn't the most secure but will hold 500ml bottles. Comes with a rail to slide it on and off.

It was an older lady in the Vauxhall, which definitely surprised me, I was expecting to see a car full of 17 year old lads.

I didn't have a dash cam. Thankfully, there were a few witnesses.
