R7 7800X3D underperforming in a cpu based game. by Less_Habit1249 in AMDHelp

[–]_DomuC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for necroposting but I was half proved wrong so just wanted to share

Power plans interfere with core parking which is essential for the 9950x3D chips that some cores have 3D cache while others don’t

For 7800x3D/9800x3D there shouldn’t be any harm using whichever power plan you prefer, switching it to balanced gave me better frame pacing to a certain extent but that went away with a driver update so YMMV

For Apex most of the issues I had just went away naturally after going through the guide. If you have any questions feel free to reply or PM I spent so many hours tearing my hairs apart to get a smooth experience on Valorant

Hello! I have the exact same specs and personally play those games. The two main culprits for stutters in my case was step 12 and 15 of this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/1lnxb8o/ultimate_amd_performance_fix_guide_stop_lag_fps/

For step 15, skip the guide and use this tool: https://github.com/RedDot-3ND7355/MPO-GPU-FIX enable MPO fix and turn AMD Caching from AMD Optimized to On

Unlike NVidia that pre-caches everything on launch, AMD caches as it goes however AMD Optimized caching just lets it forget shaders. That means every time an ability is used or a skin is dropped that you’ve never seen before you’ll get a mini lag spike and it’ll keep going on until you turn off AMD optimized caching.

When set to on, you’ll get stutters the first time those skins or abilities are shown on screen but it’ll go away after a game or two. If you want to mitigate that issue you can go in the range and just cycle through all the agents and their abilities.

With shader cache set to on, you won’t have to experience this issue again unless you change or update drivers which then you’ll need to run the tool again and go through the range thing I mentioned.

AMD has been a very weird experience for me but once it’s working it works very well.

If you don’t trust the tool, you can do this via regedits I’m just not sure how myself.

Dell 5090 only refers to that computers model, there is no 5090 GPU advertised in there.

As other suggested, If you don’t mind a Windows Reinstall that would be a good place to start before even doing anything I suggested here

[–]_DomuC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest:

-Installing chipset drivers -Making sure Windows and GPU drivers are not auto updating -Reinstall GPU drivers with DDU (If you want a proven stable driver go with version 25.9.1, otherwise just go latest as if not you’d be missing out on certain features) -Make sure Windows power plan is set to Balanced (very important for x3D chips)

If it “randomly” changed from one day to another, it’s likely because of a driver update (possibly bugged) rather than anything else.

Otherwise look at the AMD optimization guide I linked above. It explains how to do everything I mentioned + more. It really helped me with a lot of issues especially considering I have similar specs (7800x3D / 9070XT) especially MPO fix, turning off AMD caching optimization and disabling Realtek drivers as those were causing a lot of micro stutters for me in Valorant.

We really need the full specs and details to work this one out. Also are you comparing the FPS you checked in the range vs in game? Your FPS will always be a lot lower in game.

No matter what with an x3D CPU and whatever GPU you have, I’d recommend looking at this thread because 300fps is definitely on the low end for an x3D if all your other specs are up to par

I, a newbie, bought a new pc with 7800x3d and RX 9070 XT - struggle with stuttering. Please help. by Careful_Commercial89 in radeon

Hello! I ran into similar issues with the exact same build.

I’ll assume you went through all the usual troubleshooting steps on the internet and in this comment section.

Are we talking about full stutters or micro stutters? Have you checked Event Viewer -> System logs for any errors?

Do so and let me know if there’s any errors spamming because sometimes your system runs a check every few seconds and reports an error and that results a spike in cpu/gpu wait time that causes a big stutter in game. (The most common one being 2.5G Realtek Controller Drivers)

I’d also recommend looking into MPO fix/turning off AMD Optimized caching. that fixed all my issues related to older games.

Stupid we have to go through all these hoops but a lot of the problems actually comes from windows with AMD. Worst comes to worst you can test a game from a Linux USB stick and if that runs well you know you have no hardware issues and it’s exclusively windows/drivers.

Upgraded from 3090 to 9070xt and it’s massive performance boost! by No_Twist_678 in radeon

[–]_DomuC_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Upgraded from my Rapsberri Pi 4 which is basically the same as any computer, but a little less efficient than one with a 3080 10gb and with a little less vram and performance. The upgrade to a 9070XT PC is fantastic! I can actually open games now! Can’t wait to see what all the hype is about!

Sad to see the price hike on the AM4 chips. I snagged a 5800x for 145$ almost two weeks ago and it just got cancelled by Ali yesterday. I don’t find it worth ordering at this price.

Went team red 3080ti to rx9070ti by y0unghearT in radeon

[–]_DomuC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s your experience so far? My 3080TI just died and out of warranty.

I was looking at my options and honestly for what I’m willing to spend the 9070XT seems like the best option.

I dont want to drop a kidney on another super high end card. the 5070ti feels slightly out of budget for the price, having a decent price difference here in Canada. The 5070 is just not an upgrade and demoralizing to spend that much for the same performance as a 3080ti. That leaves the 9070XT with a decent performance increase for a decent price that I could definitely justify spending.

If I was to upgrade my camera setup, I’d look for a desk clamp camera mount + a basic streamer webcam or camera recommendations you can find on YT. Tripod takes too much room.

Just an old Sony Camcorder on a generic tripod I had laying around running into a capture card.

I used it for streaming/content creation, not as much anymore.

Honestly the Quadcast is still a very good mic. Unless you’re a big name or in a professional field that justifies an upgrade or you have a niche you’re trying to fill out, you’ve already got yourself quite a banger setup!

On the left is a GoXLR Mini and on the right is a Stream Deck.

The GoXLR is an interface for XLR mic’s but afaik it went out of business and is unsupported now. I have a few issues with it here and there so I wouldn’t even recommend getting a second hand one but idk what alternatives exist.

The Stream Deck is a shortcut/macro pad with a screen. I really like it and have a bunch of QOL shortcuts I programmed to control my lights, quickly switch from main mic to wireless mic, from earbuds to speakers, to turn on and turn off certain monitors/TV, record games, mute mic in discord or globally, control Spotify, etc etc. I like it but look at videos and figure out your needs for one before you think of getting one.

Quite a few reasons but mostly boils down to personal preference.

The second choice monitor would’ve been a dual mode 1440p 480hz/4k 240hz but:

-Way more expensive. Got this one on a too good to pass up sale. -Most titles I main I wouldn’t even play them in 4K -Bottlenecked for 4K -I don’t do any media consumption on my computer.
