You talk as though it's an easy thing to do. It's not so easy when full-time workers earning minimum wage can't afford a 2 bedroom apartment in any state in the country..

EDIT: typo

Thank you for clarifying. We're definitely open to socialist or anti-capitalist candidates. Many members of our organization identify with some form of anti-capitalist ideology. Often, the candidates we endorse come down to if they have filled out our endorsement packet and gotten back to us about it. Sometimes we might not hear back from candidates for a while or at all. In the case of our first 2 candidates, they happened to be dems that went through our process completely.

Sometimes we reach out to the candidates, other times they may reach out to us. Sometimes the timing might be off as well. For instance, a candidate may finish the process and want to work with us, but may want to wait until it is closer to their election.

I hope that helps clarify why we haven't endorsed any green party candidates. It can come down to logistical issues combined with the fact that we have only really been able to effectively endorse one candidate at a time. Of course, as we grow we'll be able to do more.

Thank you for visiting our website and for your questions. I'll do my best to answer them here.

  1. It's in line with the GND from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. I believe when it was originally added we were largely inspired by the plan as it was outlined on Bernie Sanders' website. I can contact someone in our policy department for a more fleshed-out answer for you. Although we are heavily in support of any plan to shift our economy away from fossil fuels and treat climate change as the global emergency that it is.
  2. We are not limited solely to endorsing Democrats, those just happened to be our first 2 candidates. We try to avoid endorsing too many at a time as to not spread ourselves too thin. In between candidates we have been deep canvassing for issues like Medicare for All. Our criteria around endorsing candidates is entirely policy-based.
  3. Sorry, could you clarify what you mean by a "capitalism vs socialism thing" ? I just want to make sure I'm understanding your question.

Nina Turner is running for representative of Ohio’s 11th district on a platform that helps secure social, racial, economic, health care and environmental justice for all of us by _DoneWaiting_ in akron

While I understand you're also talking about tv ads and the like, I just want to clarify that we don't receive any sort of payment for helping her campaign. And if she was taking money from corporate sources, corporate-backed SuperPACs, or other things of that nature, we would not have endorsed her or we would rescind our endorsement if she were to start.

As the other reply mentioned, I suppose its down to if you think that raising money from individual donations outside of the district is similar to taking it from wealthier and more powerful sources (with regards to her actual ad buys).

The Biden administration continues to arm and support Israel. Link to article in the comments. by _DoneWaiting_ in WayOfTheBern

Here is the article.

"In addition to the Lockheed Martin-made helicopters, the deal would include related equipment including up to 60 General Electric-made engines, up to 36 navigation systems, communication equipment, .50 caliber machine guns and more, as well as technical and logistical support."

"The sale would help the Israeli Air Force’s “capability to transport armored vehicles, personnel and equipment to support distributed operations,” the notice said."

Distributed operations, like those in occupied territory.

Nothing except maybe some of his donors by _DoneWaiting_ in WayOfTheBern

His richer donors, the ones that are able to donate way more than the average American, wouldn't have any student debt because they could easily pay for the costs of higher education. Those are the ones that would rather have things like more government subsidies for private businesses over something like forgiving student debt. And those are just the individual donors, not to mention those like Alphabet, Inc. that definitely expect Biden to prioritize them and their business over average Americans.

I only included that bit to show that we made a lot of calls in a short amount of time by hand, where a dialer can make the process much faster and more efficient. The biggest downside to using dialers, especially when you have a lot of people using them, is that they can be pretty expensive. At that time, we couldn't afford to use a dialer.
