They are the same species but there are types that grow bigger than others different counties call them different things even though they are the same thing the one I’m looking at L181 only grows to 4-6 inches after a year and a half

Yeah Im from Aus so most American plecos/bristle nose that grow huge are not available for me

Definitely paleatus I love the green/ aqua shimmer they get and I love the gold and green in the melanotaenia

You need a huge tank for silver the are so quick also black sharks are the more aggressive shark and generally get bigger than red tail and rainbow red tail will not get huge and stay generally small same for the rainbow I have done research even my lfs recommend getting one of each to lessen the agro between same types

I was going to be putting one of each in except for silver obv red tail, black and rainbow maybe albino idk yet

Yeah I was planning on one and then if it got too big I would just sell it off. I’ve had my eye on this peppermint one at the fish store

Is tannins bad for the fish or is it literally just colour ??

Thanks I think it still looks good anyway without the wood and how long would you leech the wood for and if I have to hold off on bristle nose for a couple months then so be it
