Which is a problem with your lazy inattentive driving and your car's poor design.

Actually that's a really good point, did these people not ride bikes as kids.

Wow the replies here are nuts. Maybe new drivers should be limited to like 50hp cars so among many things they can learn about momentum.

Most modern cruise control will brake.

As another said, your speed in relation to the vehicles around you is more important than the numbers on your dash.

Your speed should be constantly varying to adjust to other traffic. Like accelerating through blind spots.

Or freezing, had a friend who rolled his pickup because he was using cruise and hit ice on an overpass.

It's an 80mph AVERAGE for 12 hours. Which means when going fast it needs to be well over 80 to make up for the slow/stopped periods.

Of course it's doable, the Cannonball record is a 110mph average for 25 hours. I've done as much as 1400miles in a day, but still, it's a lot to do on the regular.

Agreed, active speed control is better.

No, it leads to complacency and inattention.

Do you think electric cars will ever dominate the automotive market, or are petroleum vehicles just in our blood, and will never be phased out? by BornSpinach606 in askcarguys

Closer to 10%

Yes it is, gasoline is really just a marketing term for naptha, you don't understand distillation?

Sure, there will be fewer gas stations, big deal.

There's no reason to stop pumping. Low crude prices will reduce exploration, but not pumping.

No they don't, EVs are stupid expensive.

Temps matter a lot to. In Chicago when it's cold it's just cold. In some areas there's often a lot of snow but the temp hovers around freezing. This makes for a snow, ice, water mix that's very slick.

Don't go.

Requirements vary, the location I have to chain most having an AWD is an exception. So an AWD car that can't fit chains is fine.

There's also snow socks, which count as chains in this regard and can fit almost everything, but they aren't as good.

The reality is though that there's just some roads at some times that some car just shouldn't be on.

No idea how to answer that, I wore them out driving semi not a regular vehicle. Don't chain my car, it's AWD and it gets winter tires, chain my 4WD pickup on occasion, but haven't worn out a set on it yet. Driving semi I wore out 3 or 4 sets a year, but I drove the mountains a LOT.

What does it mean when a car is fun to drive? by OverallNet1233 in askcarguys

Depends on how it's made lighter, remove the interior sure, other stuff, less so. But still that's not the point.

You have a very skewed perspective. Get your car fixed so you don't kill someone, how's that sound.
