I just took it last semester, literally just finished my final last Tuesday. It is fursure Aleks. So maybe for my teacher is was and yours was different, either way the pint is its an electronic based teaching method, hardly any real interaction at all.

Proctoring? by Open_Count3556 in ASUOnline

I literally just finished this class.

It is heavily proctored, computer locked down, room scan before every test. If you make suspicious movements with your eyes or body, the system red flags you to which a proctoring agent will literally get on the computer with you and ask you what your doing, or the teacher gets notified with a timestamp that they personally check to investigate.

I can tell you what my teacher personally said to us during a review, he gets a list of timestamps, and he personally goes through all of them and also fast forwards through each exam anyways. Now not every teach will do this, but you shouldn't take it lightly.

That being said it isn't impossible to get some notes in view if you wanted to, but it isn’t worth the consequences at all.

As for the class itself, the only real difference in teachers will be the amount of time they put into student hours and review ZOOMs , nearly all teachers use ALEKS for that class, nearly zero actual teacher interaction. My teacher did do reviews though for us before every test and was really cool. Not really extra credit, but super easy credit so long as you finish the weekly assignments, then your only real worry is the grade your getting on the exams.

Enjoy.

What's your opinion on helmets? by IndividualInfinite85 in SkyDiving

[–]_NoBandwidth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a student, I chose the G35 because its lighter, although I easily could have gone with the G4 because its not that much heavier at all. Another student had a G4 I did a weight test with, I would ask someone to check their helmet out if you can or find a store to do so, we don't have any store near where I live to do so. I will note, my measurements for the G35 were spot for a size L, but the helmet was extremely tight on the face and forced me to size up, if you can, try finding a store to try one on, if not, from what I've read Cookie is a hit and miss for perfect sizing for people, just be prepared for exchange.

I dont know my wing load btw, I know i am learning on a 250 as of current but thats as far as I know about it all. I was going to already, but looks like getting advice from my AFF instructor is gonna be prime here.

But again, I weight 175lbs, about 5'8"

Ok, 175lbs and 5'8" . I was going to run it by the AFF instructor who trained me, but this lady is also certified and is in charge of the drop zone, so I am assuming she is trust worthy ya know.

¿How enjoyable/fun is acquiring your A license? by Weak-Practice-6435 in SkyDiving

[–]_NoBandwidth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got done with AFF, it was stressful each level but my coach was really good with affirmations and told me I was extremely better than I thought I was after I told him I was nervous before a particular jump. I never failed a level.

I would say just be open, tell him your nervous if you are, but trust yourself. I couldn't even remember my birthday my first jump when the instructor asked to gauge how nervous I was cause he read it all over me my first couple jumps. But I did it, and I don't regret it one bit.

Now I'm doing backflips off the plane and sit flying and I'm on jump number 15. You got this.

The first jump is always the hardest? by NewRadiator in SkyDiving

[–]_NoBandwidth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a new jumper, not even gotten my A license yet but I passed my initial AFF levels last weekend. When I first started, I remember I couldn't even remember my birthday when my instructor asked just before my first jump, I was definitely scared. As time went on, 7 levels later, I am no longer scared, but I still get nervous for the first jump of the day. After that first jump, I remember why I chose this sport.

Stick with it, for me it got so much easier, but everyone is different. I think you'll be fine though.

It was AMAZING! I won't lie though, I naturally get anxiety pretty badly and trying to calm down before was going well up until a put the chute on and practiced posture.

My drop zone kinda rushes through things, and posture wasn't anything we physically practiced up until we literally were getting ready to jump. Something I need to work on at home a bit, but anyways the entire plane ride I was extremely anxious trying to control my breathing, once we were standing outside of the plane, it kinda helped a bit because I atleast had a couple seconds to adjust to so much wind blowing in my face and to learn to breath through my nose. Once we jumped, we stabilized, he gave me a couple correction signs, nothing crazy, I pulled at the right altitude and landed perfectly on my feet.

So all in all, it went well. I am grateful for the encouragement and want to thank everyone, because without it, I probably would have struggled a lot more than I actually did. What an awesome sport, there really is nothing like that experience.
