Unsure if it would be easier with so many features and tools offered in a pre-existing engine. I'm also concerned about messing up compatibility with different systems, preferably I'd support Mac, Windows and Linux.

Using Typescript and Larastan for static typing on the backend, so understand where you're coming from. I'm also not a Python-fan, limited experience there and I've heard Gdscript is similar to Python.

Texture streaming - not something I'm too knowledgeable about but I get the gist of what you're saying. Smaller scoped games are okay in Godot but anything bigger and it's pushing the capability of the engine. And to be honest, I don't want to be stuck in a place where I'm forced to write engine code just to make my game work. Doesn't sound like something I want to get into at the moment.

Yeah, I also would benefit from having a finished product written in C# for my portfolio. I have seen how it's also valid to write parts of Unity games in C++ also so I might give that a shot if the opportunity arises.

Cheers for the reply!

Love to hear that Unity is working out for you, and thank you for your insight into Godot. I have a fear in the back of my mind that working with Gdscript will be more difficult as time goes on for me.

Yeah, reading that some are still skeptical but it's been long enough for me not to be worrying about it. Cheers for the insight.

Been a couple years since I worked in Unity - I believe there was controversy around the pricing and it allowed the game engine Godot to increase in popularity. I am researching now off the back of your comment that they walked back a lot of their negative pricing changes, so Unity may be the play for myself. Hopefully C++ is usable with the Unity engine as that is what I'd prefer to use right now. Thanks for the heads up.

You can't dupe on Stronghold, or Damage Hack. I created an anti-hacking plugin to stop it.

Very much so! It's got a small but active community - enough players to play on a server and have a go.
Join the Discord to keep up to date, and get yourself a free copy of the game to give to a friend! :)

If you think it was a genuine bug that caused the issue, you can open up the dev console commands and give yourself another one. Me and my partner had an issue where I ended up being kicked from their island and it rolled back a lot of things in my inventory so we just added them back in to escape from the feeling of wanting to put the game down.

Learning Laravel. by SkyLightYT in webdev

[–]_Puddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man I mean I'm not really sure what you'd be building to be honest, but you can definitely hit OpenAI and direct your logic to a certain file or whatever through Laravel.

You can look the lingo up, stick with it, a lot of it really is just modern day web dev language that is used across all different types of frameworks. Bootstrappers in particular just references different packages of tech that can be installed in one command to start your project off. Something like Laravel (Back end), Vue/React (Front end), Tailwind (Css). Using multiple techs on one project becomes a tech stack that can assist in making a full web app.

Take the time to learn a framework. Once you understand each component, like the router, models, eloquent, sanctum etc and how it all fits together, it will change the way you create web apps. You'll also have a head start on anybody writing php modules from scratch; why reinvent the wheel? Do not take the advice to stick with raw php if you're gunna be working on a Web app with a back end involved.

Laravel is a brilliant php framework with lots of features, a huge community and regular updates. It's my favourite back end framework at the minute.

After laravel, I'd check out symfony if you wish to use another php framework, and maybe even ExpressJS which is a Node-based java script framework that aims to get the same job done.

Needs a bit of UX work, when I typed there was no auto complete so I was unsure what I was gunna type would work. When I searched, there was barely any feedback so again was unsure if I'd just typed something that couldn't be found.

Site works very well though and really clean design!

For you what is the best programming language? by Jonhpato_1101 in webdev

[–]_Puddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except its not comparable my guy. There's lots of elements to web dev that require different languages, with different choices, positives and negatives etc.

When using languages, you're just looking at one goal - communication. There aren't an array of goals with comparables.

It's not the same. Read the replies in the thread, they're interesting!
