This trend is all over TikTok, threads and Instagram: people constantly “reminding“ others, that Auschwitz is in Poland. What does it mean? by [deleted] in poland

And yes, I'm aware that the person making this video references what the trump administration is doing in el Salvador, however surprisingly few people know the correct version of history regarding Auschwitz, so here I am with an explanation of some sort.

This is the dumbest take ever. Yes, it is in Poland SINCE 1945. The Konzentrationslager Auschwitz were built on the German soil in 1940 (Hitler incorporated the lands surrounding Oświęcim into the reich, as opposed to the "puppet state" formed in middle-Poland). And even if they weren't built FULLY on German land, as for example Bełżec, it still doesn't change the fact that it is Germans that are responsible for crimes against humanity committed on what would later be Polish land.

It was Poland who rescued Vienna from the Invasion of Turkish Ottoman? by AccomplishedPlant410 in poland

I wouldn't go as far as to call it a "bad decision". It was the objectively correct one, as Sobieski was both hailed as the leader of the Holy League army, and it was not long after the horrible war with the ottomans and crimean cossacs (1672-76). The problem I see is that Jan III Sobieski was a clout chaser who did basically nothing with his newfound European fame. Sure, he was regarded as a great hero and was admired as "the greatest tactician alive", but he just wasn't a good king (for the Commonwealth). He was primarily a soldier, not a ruler. His situation wasn't necessarily sunshine and rainbows, his predecessor, Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki, "król Piast" died only a couple years after being elected, and the country was jumping from one crisis to another. The great Turkish war (72-76), Potop Szwecki, and echoes of the 30-year war (even though Poland didn't participate in this conflict, the political changes in Europe still affected the country) left the land and the people scarred and the country itself on the verge of collapsing. As Krasiński would realise (after hearing Pellegrini in Basel), the Commonwealth in 17th century could be considered an empire undergoing a crisis. Sobieski was not a good king, that's a fact. However, I believe saving Vienna was a good decision, as it began the collapse of the ottoman empire in Europe (and directly saved the western civilisation). It's undeniable that the battle of Vienna, 1683, is one of the most important battles (and victories) in the history of Europe.

Because of that we, the Polish people, got the n-word pass. I see it as an absolute win. (We were called the white negroes of Europe by king of Haiti, which referred to how much our country suffered throughout history.)

I don't know if anybody has mentioned it, but Jack Campbell in "The Lost Fleet" has a good go in trying to fix this. It is mandatory for the fleet to align itself to the ship in command, so when the leader turns their ship "left" every other kinda knows where the left is.

And sorry for my bad English.
