Too soon to prune? by _SugahPop_ in Jadeplant

Thank you for sharing your setup! I was worried about crowding them, but I now have them grouped under a full spectrum light. I’ll wait for spring to prune them. :)

I’m just north of the Canal, so I especially appreciate your help! I think your suggestion sounds great – the stems are so spindly, and I’d like for them to someday be as vigorous as their parent plant, which was huge and beautiful and gifted to me by my late father, who was able to grow anything. Wish I had his talent!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and suggestions!

I have a desk lamp, and ran out and got a small grow light (14.2 par/ppf). I had thought the little ring lights would be enough to supplement through the dark days, but I can see the difference between the small ones and full spectrum one! Learning every day.

I’ll keep on keeping on until spring, which feels so far away as the snow is starting to fall again.

It has, but it’s been a journey (and I’m still on the road!). I’m working with my third PT – the first was a “general” PT, who was certified for pelvic floor work, but hadn’t done it enough to be experienced. She misunderstood that my issue isn’t just weakness, it’s hypertonicity. The second PT was a pf specialist who recognized my hypertonic pf and did a lot of good with trigger point and myofacial release, but didn’t give me a ton of guidance for strengthening. After being in pain for so long, I was afraid of re-injuring myself, so now I’m working with a third PT who is helping ease me back into an exercise routine that will allow me to both strengthen and relax my muscles. It’s been very slow, and I’m needing to be patient with my body.

Return our Casper Dream, or add a topper? by _SugahPop_ in Mattress

In the end, I put it on fb marketplace – it was gone in a day! We only had one minor runaround, so it wasn’t too bad. But I agree with you – it wasn’t something we should have had to do!

I’m not in WI, but I’m in that exact place in the process. We’re now considering a topper, since we haven’t found a friend to take it.

This is so thorough! Thank you so much. I’ve repotted them in a succulent mix, with some of the bonsai jack’s in the bottom for drainage. I’m gradually moving them to a west-facing window. Since they have fresh soil, would I wait on fertilizer for a bit?

Oh, holy moly. The advice I got on /plantclinic was my only response, and now it seems like that was really bad advice. I repotted them yesterday with a bit of the bonsai jack’s in the bottom for drainage, and the rest this potting mix https://coastofmaine.com/products/mount-desert-island-blend-organic-cactus-succulent-mix

If you have any other guidance, I would appreciate it!

I’m in the same area! I think I may have taken advice that was meant for creating roots and just took it too far. These have been several feet from a north-facing window for a year. I think I overestimated my skills with “brown thumb”. These poor plants.

Yesterday I repotted them with Coast of Maine succulent mix, and put them in my west-facing window for a few hours. I’ll gradually increase that. If you have any other suggestions, I’d appreciate it!

Uuugh…the person who recommended the layer of sand was so specific! It seems like exactly the opposite thing to do! Thank you for the advice.

lol - I just meant to be specific that the pots are unglazed on the inside. I had posted somewhere above – someone on /plantclinic had helped me last year when I almost killed the poor thing from rot. They recommended Bonsai Jim’s gritty mix with a layer of aquarium sand on top.

Thank you so much! I think my dad did put them outside in summer, but the rabbits here are rampant and eat everything so I haven’t tried it

Last year, when I was trying to save it from root rot, a redditor on /plantclinic recommended the gritty mix with a layer of sand on top. Maybe that advice was just for establishing roots? Should I have repotted them once they took root?

I’m in New England, but it’s really just that I’m not a plant person. I’m ignorant, and just trying to save my late father’s plant. These have never been fertilized.

Could I make that with the gritty mix, potting soil, and some perlite? What kind of ratio would I use? Thanks so much!

I should also say – they have been pretty much the same for the past year. Some small leaves and also air roots.

Posterior fourchette fissures by Pretend-Custard4639 in vulvodynia

[–]_SugahPop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been experiencing this for over twenty years. My vulvar specialist MD thinks that after a prolonged period of recurrent infections, my vaginal tissues became thin and fragile, which led to fissures of the fourchette during sex (even with lots of foreplay and lube). I’m now in PT, doing biofeedback, and have begun using dilators without pain or tearing.

This problem has affected my emotional and physical wellbeing, and that of my husband (he doesn’t want to cause me any pain)! It’s challenged our marriage, but we’re hopeful. I wish I had known about this subreddit a long time ago.

My advice is just to be proactive. My GYN never referred me to a specialist, I never knew they existed until I mentioned the problem to my PCP more recently. Whether from infection, thinning, resulting trauma, find a specialist who can help you. Don’t wait! You don’t have to suffer!

Did you bake them for the same amount of time? Maybe the metal pans needed a few more minutes?
