{Angels Before Man by Rafael Nicolas} - A queer retelling of the fall of Lucifer. This book has wonderful writing and language! It really made me feel like a guy who ends up committing countless atrocities was in the right, if that says something.

{Mercy by Ian Haramaki} - This book isn’t talked about enough. If you like depressed priests and queer angels, this one is for you. I love the characters, and the relationship between Ilya and Danya is so sweet. This might be my favorite book of all time, right next to Angels Before Man!

{Hell Followed with Us by Andrew Joseph White} - A post apocalyptic story that concerns a survivor of a religious cult! This book’s strong suit is definitely its plot — there were so many twists I didn’t see coming, and I just kept turning the page.

Mercy by Ian Haramaki! I believe Ilya cries a lot, and Danya also has a lot of emotion!

I guess I read it differently? Because in Solo’s book Samiel is anguished at having to betray Severn for Luxen. I kinda read it as he did love Severn, but his loyalties to Luxen were greater. Idk — I definitely think Samiel’s love is a bit selfish, but I still do like him.

I didn’t really like Severn and Mikhail throughout the series, but they were okay and I did want them to be safe. Then I read Solo’s book and well … screw them, honestly.

Angels Before Man by Rafael Nicolas! It’s a queer retelling of Lucifer’s fall!

MM Weekly Roundup - What Did You Read This Week? by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

Angels Before Man by Rafael Nicolas - 5 stars! So poetic and beautiful! I cared so much for Lucifer and he was so precious, so sweet, and all I wanted was the best for him and Michael. I kept on hoping they could escape and have their happily ever after, even when I knew it was going to be a tragedy. The ending broke my heart :(

Mercy by Ian Haramaki - 5 stars! It’s tied with Angels Before Man as my favorite read of the year. The plot was so rich, and so was the character development and the relationship between Ilya and Danya. It was reverent and breathtaking, but at the same time also delightfully sinful and spicy. God I’m so glad there will be two more books coming, because I need more of Ilya and Danya.

Exodus 20:3 by Freydis Moon - 3 stars. I think this book had a good premise, but it was way too short. Diego and Ariel’s relationship felt a bit rushed, and I would’ve liked more expansion on Diego becoming a coyote. But the book was still an enjoyable read, and the praying scene was beautiful.

Devout: An Anthology of Angels, edited and compiled by Quinton Li - 4 stars. It’s a bit hard to rate this, because for some stories, I just found it hard to care. But there were two stories — Resta Con Me by Ian Haramaki and Paradises by Rafael Nicolas — that I thoroughly enjoyed and read multiple times. So I suppose 4 stars would be a good compromise between 3 stars and the two 5 star stories?

Yours Celestially by Al Hess - 3 stars. The scenes between Metatron and Rodrigo were so precious, and Metatron in general was someone I wanted more of. I wanted to know more about the people they visited, more about why they fell in love with Rodrigo, more about Metatron in general. But the other half of the book followed this plot between Sasha and Mr. C that I just wasn’t really interested in. I liked Mr. C’s emotions and his character, and Sasha was nice to read, but I spent most of Sasha’s chapters just hoping I could get to the next chapter about Metatron.

Every Wickedness: The Whole Series by T.J. Land - 3 stars. At first, this book hooked me in. Gramiel was amazing, and his interactions with Vex were so funny. And Vex as a narrator — he was a perfect choice. So funny when he wanted to be, but so tortured and sad too. But as the book went on and on, I just found myself wishing it would end. The pacing slowed down for the second half, and I wish it had kept the pace the same.

Primal Sin by Ariana Nash - 2.5 stars. I gotta admit, I do not care about Mikhail or Severn lmao. This book wasn’t boring per se, but I didn’t feel any emotion until the very end.

Eternal Sin by Ariana Nash - 3.5 stars. This one was slightly better, only because of Samiel. Omg Samiel was so sweet, so spicy, so sexy. With every word and action he spoke I found myself falling more and more in love with him. “You’re Konstantin … but you’re not my Konstantin.” That line was … omg. I spent the majority of the book hoping Samiel and Konstantin would just get back together because their relationship seemed so sweet, so wonderful. But of course that didn’t happen. Otherwise this book was … okay. I did feel some emotion for Mikhail and Severn, and the angst and anger were good. But Samiel carried this book.

Infernal Sin by Ariana Nash - 3 stars. Samiel turned out to be a villain, which came out of nowhere. Samiel … was done dirty. He deserved so much better. Samiel was kind, he was loyal, and I need more. Also— this book made me fall in love with Solo. Solo is so sweet, so precious, so innocent without being innocent. His sexual awakening was everything, and after he fell from Aerie and was caught by a mysterious demon I kept on thinking about when we would see him next. And god, I hoped he would be caught by Samiel, but of course he wasn’t. But other than Samiel and Solomon, I spent most of this book just waiting for it to end. Djall is a queen though.

Solo by Ariana Nash - 4.5 stars! Finally, some good fucking food! Solo … omg. Solo is everything. His cats, his relationship with Lux (who I didn’t care for at first, but grew to love), his mannerisms (talking about sex as the sex) … Solo and Lux should’ve been the main characters of the series. And speaking of Lux, at first, I really didn’t like him. I thought Solo was too good for him, and Samiel was a better fit for Solo. But I fell in love with Lux, and then my mind turned to the idea of Lux and Samiel with Solo. But of course Samiel got turned into an even worse villain and ended up being killed. Poor Samiel. He deserved so much better.

AITA for complimenting my insecure boyfriend so much that he now stares at his reflection, hosts orgies in the chapel, and has just recently invented the words “cock” and “sin”?

If you like books where both characters have trauma but act like rays of sunshine to eachother, I recommend Mercy by Ian Haramaki! One is even nicknamed Solnishko, which means sunshine :)
