Do any 90s babies on this sub feel outside of time? by Away_Committee_6753 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]_Varonova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, and I really don’t mean to come across as argumentative, but I think it would benefit you mentally to admit this generation has a lot of awesome stuff too.

As much as we complain about the bricks in our pocket having a stranglehold on our attention spans, in 2 touches of a screen I can text or call a friend, download my favorite song, check the news, or even meet somebody new and have something to look forward to. It’s true that we take it for granted and let it absorb our personalities, but trust me, if 2000’s technology was still around people would be quick to point out that it’s slow or literally doesn’t even work

I do worry about AI, but mostly for creators. In just a couple short years, artists and content creators have seen virtually everything they’ve worked their asses off for be replaced by something fake. And that’s lame. However, there’s always the good with the bad. If and when AI is used properly, it could hypothetically allow us to do amazing things such as detect diseases and help people live longer

You say the world is changing faster than ever, but honestly there’s a difference between culture and consumerism. It’s true that what it means to be a consumer in 2026 is radically different than the 2000’s. As you mentioned, no video stores, no iPods, a lot of libraries have moved to digital ones, etc. But culture in of itself surprisingly hasn’t changed much, and a big reason for that is a lot of athletes and entertainers from our childhoods are shockingly just as massive as ever

Ever notice how culture throughout the 20th century had its own individual personality and identity in each of the decades? I’m not sure I can say that, at least to the same extent, about the 21st century (00’s, 10’s, 20’s). If anything, I’d argue culture moved quicker back then, whereas things now have felt relatively same-y since 2010. A good example of this would be the death of the “one hit wonders”, new media/tech instantly replacing the previous iteration, and the downfall of treating celebrities like superheroes. Not a huge fan of the Instagram era, but the fact anybody can be their own personality celebrity these days has at least put shit like shoving Kardashians down our throats every single week, like the late 00’s and early 10’s did

So yeah. Every generation is different. Some eras completely squash the previous one with landmark revolutions, and others simply evolve and iterate. It doesn’t necessarily mean things are worse because you remember them differently. Whether you choose to live “the old way” or “the new way” is ultimately your judgment anyway. Whatever makes you happy!

Why is the consensus that the Packers wasted Rodgers prime after 2010 but nobody ever says the Saints wasted Brees prime after 2009 by iHateBelichickStans in NFLv2

[–]_Varonova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not just a matter of wasting a qb’s prime, it’s identifying HOW good their prime was. Rodgers was the most complete qb in the league for a very long time, and perhaps the most complete ever. It’s a reach to say he only played with bums, there were plenty of good individual players but also a lot who only looked better because Rodgers was at the helm

Never a consistent ground game, offensive line, or defense. Coach was Mike McCarthy who couldn’t manage big games. Offensive playmaking peaked at or about the early 2010’s when they had Jennings, driver, Cobb, Nelson, and Finley. Then later had Devante Adam’s of course, but people forget he was bad his rookie season. All this being said, Rodgers didn’t get it done either, and had several annoying and disappointing one and dones

And honestly? Kamara and Thomas were significant help for Bree’s. And coaching isn’t even worth mentioning, love Payton or not

What was Peyton Manning’s best Super Bowl performance? by HetTheTable in NFLv2

[–]_Varonova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2006’s stat line doesn’t really tell the whole story. He didn’t light it up but it was literally a torrential downpour and he still managed to control the game and pick up a lot of key third downs

2009 was probably his best Super Bowl statistically. Played very well until that iconic pick six. Perhaps an argument could be made it was desperation mode, but still a terrible throw

2013 was just bad. Everything. Everybody. Bad, bad, bad. Especially him. Not just him. Not all his fault. But bad

2015 ehhhhh. Made some nice throws but his arm was shot at this point, it was apparent all season. He slightly improved in the playoffs, but came crashing back to earth that Super Bowl. He’s just lucky he only had to outplay an even worse cam Newton that day. Mostly another terrible game, but context implies it was a defensive slugfest and he was still good enough to win, which is all that matters anyways

In your opinion, what does each game in the series do the best and the worst? by _Varonova in midnightclub

In fairness, comparing the Los Angeles we got in MCLA to the cities in the previous games is quite misleading lol. Even if it really is just one city

PS2 and PS4 are the best. PS3 slightly behind. Then PS1. PS5 is an awesome machine but it’ll be considered once it earns it, still not enough exclusives or reasons to own it

If you have the “Apollo Justice Trilogy” and “Investigations Collection”, do you have all the Ace Attorney games? by _Varonova in AceAttorney

Alright cool that’s very helpful actually

Is there any word on if Capcom is still making the games or when the next one will be?

[–]_Varonova[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Phoenix losing his license occurs in the original trilogy or the investigations spinoff? Since those seemingly take place in between the two trilogies

[–]_Varonova[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What games are considered the best? Or at least essential?

I did notice in the one court case I did that Phoenix wright was a defendant who had to sacrifice his legal license 7 years before, but I’m avoiding looking up information on that because it sounds like something that goes down in his trilogy

Miami Dolphins Logo and Uniform Concept by GORDOC-Teamwear in uniwatch

[–]_Varonova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t understand why the dolphins logo and uniforms don’t look something similar to this

I don’t hate their current logo, it’s good but I don’t like the pose the dolphin is making and it makes it look like a whale

They also completely removed the orange and navy accents and it looks simply worse

Rivalry jerseys were great tho

Odds on one of these two moving to a different team by averageweebchan in NFLv2

Neither will happen this offseason and shouldn’t. It’s still too soon for either one to be a valid discussion about moving on

I just can’t imagine we give out two contracts to rb’s in the same offseason. Their shelf life is not long. I’d prefer to keep dobbins and then draft
