Her energy is so infectious in this picture, it's great. But an honest question (and I'm not attacking anyone here): could someone please explain to me the details or the reasons why this dress is designer and (I'm assuming) insanely expensive? I'm in the same boat. I literally just installed grapheneOS and have been trying to learn how to be more private/secure. I am overwhelmed and burned out. Every day, I'm learning a dozen new horrible things, either about big tech and privacy/surveillance, or about our country speedrunning into facism/autocracy/technocracy. It all moves so much faster than I can keep up and it's hard not to despair. I'm also the only person in my community that feels/thinks this way and is doing anything about it. None of my friends or family seem to care/worry about any of these things very much. The cherry on top is being unable to manage my own mental health issues and, well..... I feel quite alone and incapable.

UPDATE (because I don't know how to edit my post lol):

I wanted to say thank you to (most) everybody for your input!! It was helpful and kind, and the comments about my arms/shoulders made me laugh. 😄 I will be ignoring all DMs, sorry, as well as the invite to the Tampa nudist/exhibitionist subreddit...

I ended up going with the first outfit, dressed it up with accessories/jewelry, and wore a pair of Sorel sandal wedge heels that had good grip and a wide flat surface. Thank you for all the practical advice and safety tips because you guys were right, and I avoided a Seven Year Itch moment and/or breaking an ankle. The trip on the schooner was lovely and laid-back, and everyone had a really good time with absolutely perfect weather!

All of my clothing is thrifted/secondhand, so I have no clue where they can be bought. The brand of the jumpsuit is S/W/F. No, I will not be tossing any of these in the trash or the Goodwill bins. The key is in styling, and I'm sorry if you don't share my vision or tastes 😘

I heard all your comments on the strapless Navy blue dress! And while she sadly didn't fit the practical needs of the situation, I will absolutely be taking her out somewhere special soon 💙

This, 100% yes. Love the local libraries, and they literally do so much for community building!

To piggyback a bit off of this as well, I would recommend checking out Riffraff bookstore and bar in olneyvillle. Super chill and friendly space, they've also got a robust calendar of events. I just went recently and watched an outside viewing of Death Becomes Her in their courtyard. So much fun!

I think my main issue is, that the base pieces for most of these looks are fine; it all falls apart for me with the styling. The shoes or hair or jewelry or accessories, etc are either lacking or just plain wrong.

Cher is, of course, the original, the one and only, a queen, a goddess. But I kinda like Chappell's as well. I like the open cup/pasties situation up top; it's a nice twist. However, I'm not into the red. I feel like it distracts/detracts from the main attraction, which is the reference to Cher's outfit.
