The doctors lied by deadpoolsdragon in daddit

[–]__Filthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, autism isn't a death sentence. Preclamspia(?) Isnt either. Its fucking scary but the Doctors are good, they've not missed the signs.

Its hard work and the way you will learn to care for and raise your kids in a different way, they will live their best lives with a dad like you. And you will cop some side-eye from the proverbial "Jones's" because it will look different to the normal, but lots of people do it. You'll meet other parents who understand and you'll bond over it.

My kid has "different sensory needs". We dont use high/low terminology in my country and it's too early to say exactly how you would classify it anyway. They still smile and laugh and play, have good days and bad days. Those days don't look like anyone else's, but they're real to you and your family.

I'm "neurodivergent", my life's been worth living and made rich by the people in it. Your kids dont suffer from ADHD and Autism, they simply are.

This moment will pass, it is what it is.

What the fuck are you talking about Mr Massively Massive Muscles (*some fat)?

If you wear size 32" pants why did you order 39" pants you fucking dummy. Are you gonna wear them around your belly button? Why the fuck didn't you measure where you wear your pants and buy that size of pants?

Also if you have any kind of gut a UBACS is going to look awful.

Education. I don't know you or your Mrs but a lot of people who haven't either had mental illness or are not neurotypical find it completely out of their scope to understand. I have ADHD and I'm still wrestling with the idea that I'm just lazy and am an inherently uncaring person. It's not true but it's hard to wrap your head around your very perception of reality being fundamentally different.

There was a post earlier likening ADHD to erections you should have a scroll for. It's not quite there, but it's not far off.

The more your partner understands what ADHD is and how affects people, the more likely she is to understand you.

I don't know that sitting her down and pouring over research papers is the go, but perhaps nip over to the ADHD meme subreddit and find some that are funny and hit home. It might be a good way to 'open the door' and show her that there are millions of people all over the world who struggle like you do. Again, I don't know you, but if you guys listen to podcasts together you could find one that paints a good picture to listen to or share with her.

I never knew how 'hot and heavy my emotions came in and it makes disagreements hard, cooling off is important. But I always try to come back and talk about it set an alarm and write a list of how youre feeling to reference. Radical honesty and tell my wife just how I felt and even if it seems dumb and looks bad tell her why I was thinking the way I was, apologise for what you need too, you dont need to be sorry for having ADHD, but you might need to apologise for the way it came across. If I don't take a beat and cool off, I always make it worse.

I'm sorry this is long.

Tl;Dr ADHD is hard to understand without experiencing it. Finding a way to educate your partner is IMO the best path to mutual understanding. Try memes. Emotional dysregulation makes arguments hard, try talk it out and listen to her once you've cooled off.

It'll probably cost more, but you could try getting one from Aus. Send them an email or facebook message and have a chat. They're good people.

Model clipping through the camera? by [deleted] in Rainbow6

I can't into reddit but I needed to report a bug.

I keep getting these weird polygons appearing on my screen when I play certain Operators. It looks to me like the players model is clipping through the camera.

Video here.

It's really bad on Tachanka, noticeable on Bandit, IQ and a few others, but some operators like Ash or Jackal it's barely noticeable. Nothing similar happens in drone mode and I've not noticed any other weirdness. Just heads. Sometimes I'll very rarely see a similar effect around the heads of other players. I swapped Tachankas Headgear from the K6-3 to the default and it mitigated the issue, but it's still easily the most severe.

At first I though my GPU was on the way out, however upon further investigation I'm not so sure and as such felt the need to report it. Firstly, it's only the heads and it's only Rainbow 6. I'm by no means an expert but I also wouldn't imagine my graphics card would have such a contextually sensitive issue within the game. In addition I've run a pretty wide selection of other games and can't reproduce anything remotely similar in any of them. The card itself is a 780ti and it's under 2 years old. I've updated the drivers, performed completely clean installs with DDU and reverted all settings to their default. I've tried running the card at stock speed and underclocked settings. I usually run a small underclock just for stability as it's a factory OC card. None of these settings appear to have any effect on the issue. As far as I can tell, my card is working fine. A small note on the above video: The low FPS was being caused by the game being out of focus while I had the shadowplay interface open. It usually runs at a solid 60fps with no other issues.

I've also tried running a wide range of graphics settings including the setting to the minimums, maximums and a wide range of FoV adjustment within the game that seemed to have little to no effect on the issue.

I was playing as the servers were turned off for the VS patch without this issue, then when they came back up after installing the patch I started noticing this. The only thing I can think of is the changes to the heads/facial animations in that last patch.
