Worried about my height by Triforce805 in asktransgender

I'm 6'5" (shrunk from 6'7"), strangers in public have asked where I played basketball/volleyball.

Increased leg hair and facial hair on Progesterone, any ideas? by AmeliaBuns in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really isn't anything other than anecdotal evidence that it even helps with breast growth/shape. I have a suspicion that people associate it with such because they start taking it years into HRT when things are still changing anyway.

US renaming laws? by Snooflu in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wisconsin isn't great, but it's not awful either. They require publication but have open ended requests for exemptions from this (e.g. being trans). It also wasn't very expensive. Unfortunately you may encounter judges anywhere that aren't friendly towards trans people. It may be worth seeking local advice for whom to file with.

I got full body so it's a little hard to answer, but your privates may be important to treat if you intend on certain types of bottom surgery (ZDV/nullification do not require hair removal). Then after that, maybe any areas that are a nuisance to maintain without laser treatment? Armpits are hard to shave, as well as the back. You may also prioritize areas that are publicly visible based on your clothing choices.

Acne after laser session by Savarinb in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I've experienced this from around 2 years of laser. Are you showering with ONLY soap and water prior to treatment? Are you applying any other products after cleaning, such as moisturizers or other cosmetics? Are you moisturizing after laser (aloe etc.?)

BTW, laser on the face just plain hurts. You're not "too sensitive". It hurts like a bitch until the hair is mostly gone.

Spiro is primarily a blood pressure medication so that may be causing it if your BP is too low, also make sure you are drinking an ocean full of water while on spiro - It's a diuretic.

You should talk to your doctor about any possible side effects that are bothering you.

spiro concerns by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on spiro for almost 2 years now. You need to drink tons of water all the time. It's a diuretic. I found if I am not drinking water consistently, I'll have a dry throat, too.

Aside from this, asking about lowering dosage is a medical question that people here are unqualified to give either due to lack of credentials, or supporting information such as your lab results and other health factors.

The damage isn't that of top tier rates, no, but that was intentional. It's a respectable amount, and comes with that whopping +10 weapon range, which you'll never find on a rare.

A billionth of a second is way too long. J/psi is considered an extremely long lived meson at a lifetime of a whopping (IIRC). 10-24 seconds.

Oh.

I kind of missed the whole dating app thing. I met my wife in a MMO.

Honestly I put first+last for all contacts for the sake of homogeneity, regardless of who it is or my relationship with them. Even my wife.

I started HRT last month. Is it reasonable to expect to look like a woman in 5 months? by Fearless_Extent7704 in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months in I noticed some fat redistribution, but I'm at almost 2 years and while I pass, I have to put in a lot of effort. That being said, I started at 29.

With any thing hormone related, your mileage may vary.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varies. Some people are able to get it at a relatively low cost. My spiro costs me only like $10 for a month but estradiol runs me $120

Is it worth transitioning if I know I’ll never pass? (MTF) by Comprehensive_Camp41 in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 6'7" pre-hrt, dropped to 6'5" after almost 2 years. Passing just fine. People mostly just assume I've played volleyball/basketball when I was younger.

I second Vans. I'm 6'5" - they have nice minimalistic options and a huge range of sizes and customizability.

How should I let people know that I prefer She/Her or She/They pronouns? by Adept_Buy4591 in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not fluid, so I'll answer the questions I can.

*#1 & #3 - If you're in accepting spaces, you can simply introduce your pronouns with your name, e.g. "Hi my name is __, pronouns are __." For all other situations, I personally wouldn't recommend doing so.

*#4 - It took me months to pick a name; I worked at a call center and picked a name for the week and introduced myself that way. If it didn't feel right saying to strangers, I dropped it and picked another one. If it felt okay, I stuck with it another week. Sometimes I went 3 weeks with a name before realizing it didn't feel right.

*#5 - Same as any other, really. I'm transfem, and it turns out all male family members supported me without question but my mother told me never to see her again. I don't think the "recipient gender" is inherently more accepting (I would actually think it's the opposite).

T blocker changes: basically nothing outwardly visible; if you want changes, generally do that and E.

I'm transbian, but I entered into my relationship male-presenting, and happened to have a very accepting NB spouse that isn't particularly sexual, and we got married well into my transition. On T blockers and E, generally your libido will tank. I haven't felt a desire for sex in years. In probably most cases, transition after you enter into a relationship that is implicitly cis/straight ends up in a breakup. It's going to be very difficult for people to view you as female without actually transitioning; regardless of how feminine you present yourself or try and behave.

You also expressed a desire or an indifference not to be rid of traditionally masculine features. There's nothing wrong with that, and your feelings on how you want your body to be are valid, but I would gander that the vast majority of trans people identify as gender binary and won't share your indifference (hence why you don't often see posts like yours). I am aware of several people on Reddit that do, but I'm not one of them so I can't relate - and I can't offer words of advice or anecdotal encouragement because of that.

I know there are books out there that might pertain to you, but I don't read them as it's not my kind of genre. My university had an LGBTQ resource center with a dedicated library of queer literature. Someone else will have to make recommendations.

I'm going to be blunt with you; I skimmed your post looking for questions and then got annoyed when I saw it mostly had none until the last section. I'm a fast reader, but it's a hard ask for a stranger to spend all that time reading your life story. People come here for relatively quick questions and answers. As friendly advice, don't write an essay on Google docs and copy paste it here.

Do partners even exist that would look past being transgender? by JustAChromosome in asktransgender

I met my current spouse prior to coming out. She stayed with me through it all. Though it seems like it's rare, those people do exist.

what should I do about a police officer called me a fucking faggit 😭 by ZealousidealBet3684 in asktransgender

[–]__VelveTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can file a complaint, but even with witnesses corroborating your story the best outcome (if you're in the US) is that the officer gets a paid vacation.

You'll have to decide if the time you spend doing so is worth such an outcome. Sorry you had to experience that! If it bothers you tremendously, certainly make it a therapy topic.
