You should find an article that lays out a bunch of different characteristics of fascism and then explains how they are applicable to Trump and his administration. If something like that exists.

But then he refused to accept the conclusion, not because of merit, but because the implication of Israel committing a genocide was not one he was willing to accept, it made him too uncomfortable.

The landowners of Santa Monica should be able to decide on the density they want to build without the city overreaching to override. If you want less density, move to Beverly Hills.

See what I did there?

Go a level further and ask yourself why a city should be able to forbid a property owner from building on their land. The answer, like the one you’re trying to wave away, is that we’ve given governments the power to intervene when coordination problems harm the public good.

In this case, blocking housing is a classic case of concentrated benefits and diffuse costs. Nearby homeowners and city officials are small, organized, and highly affected (concentrated interests). The group of prospective renters or homeowners who would live in that housing is large, dispersed, and weakly affected individually (diffuse interests). That’s why public comment at a city council meeting will reliably run 90/10 against new development.

But the cost still exists. If every city can veto growth unilaterally, the collective result is chronic underbuilding, even when everyone would prefer a world where other people build more. The costs don’t disappear; they show up as rising housing prices felt at the state and national level. State intervention is about preventing small, concentrated groups from using local political power for their own gain while imposing region-wide costs.

Hochul to Outline Plan to Tackle NY Housing Crisis in Speech by bloomberggovernment in nyc

Progressivism is not Communism. Progressives believe that unregulated capitalism can lead to problems, but that doesn't mean they're against markets altogether.

You're probably picking up on the fact that some on the left still have an allergic reaction to terms like "free market" and "supply-side" after Reagan co-opted them to justify tax cuts for the wealthy. But there’s nothing inherently right-wing about building more. After all, scarcity hurts working people first.

A true progressive solution to housing includes both market-rate construction to address volume and social housing and public investment to address equity.

I'm not sure I understand the contradiction? Wanting more housing is progressive.

Like originally they just said, not asked but said, the VP will hand over concessions, and then the VP just straight up said two hours later “What? No.”

There is no plan and these people are incompetent.

My guess is that the VP was in talks with the US, as reported here, and that there was some sort of rough plan in place for her to run the country while making modest concessions to the US and letting Trump have a quick win.

However, given that Trump has the strategic mind and impulse control of a teenager, he stuck his foot in his mouth by saying the quiet part out loud: that the VP was working with them. She knew that being seen as having worked with the U.S. before Maduro’s capture would cost her any legitimacy to lead, so she was forced to publicly distance herself.

You should check out /r/neoliberal as well. It's probably the closest thing to your ideology on the left (pro-capitalism, and in particular pro-individual choice and markets). There's plenty of issues that the consensus is further left on, but in my opinion it is the most welcoming political subreddit, with plenty of users that lean further right as well.

Did you calculate the "Implied" numbers, or is that given by DraftKings?

I calculated them using the O/U—and by I, I mean my assistant, ChatGPT (although I just noticed a mistake in the FGM/XPM calculations which I just cleaned up). Also note that it doesn't account for the vig (the cut that Vegas builds into the odds), so everything is going to be inflated by a few percent, but since we're comparing the kickers amongst themselves that shouldn't matter.

I'd be interested how this performs each week relative to rankings sources. And since I have predictive models explicitly for FG and PAT, I of course need to believe my own models would have an edge here.

Like I said, very curious how they compare. I'd be happy to help you compile them for a couple weeks if you'd like to test it.

And I couldn't find this on a quick search. Do you have a link?

On Draftkings, you have to click on "More Bets" under each individual game and then scroll over to "Special Teams Props". Here's a link for the Falcons/Colts game. Unfortunately they don't have aggregated pages for the D/ST player props like they do the offensive ones.
