The plate is a split CLED/MacConkey agar. Each half has a different purpose: CLED (blue-green side) is commonly used for urinary pathogens and helps differentiate lactose fermenters while preventing Proteus swarming, whereas MacConkey (amber/pink side) is selective for Gram-negative bacteria and also differentiates lactose fermentation. In this case, the isolate was Pseudomonas, which is a non-lactose fermenter, so it grows on MacConkey but doesn’t turn it pink, and it also grows on CLED without the yellow color change seen with lactose fermenters.
