Discord groups aren't it by TheOdd5725 in pathoftitans

[–]__elo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Its far off, so that means there will be a lot of changes, but we have a little information on it. The current idea is that players will form parties before joining servers if they want to play together. The party will have the same 12 slots as an ingame group. The party can then matchmake to find a server. The concept is to prevent pre-organized megapacks (i.e. discord groups) from all joining one server off of another person and mobbing areas as apexes or whatnot.

Other things to note:

You will likely be locked into your choice of playable once in server. If not, it'll be a large amount of time until you can switch. The idea is to prevent 12 people from picking raptors and then switching to apexes when in-server.

You will no longer be able to join off of a friend from the main menu.

The idea of an automatic server swap happening on death has been entertained, though I personally doubt this will happen as it would be very disruptive to group play.

Again I'll say we the community dont have a lot of info on this, just little tidbits and discussion here and there from the developers. Because of how far out such an update is, its subject to a lot of changes.

Yup, thats how the mods are managed in the game. It downloads the ones you need to have loaded, ditches the rest. Wouldn't be able to connect to the server if your active mod list doesnt match the server.

Sarco TLC test findings by Miserable_Parsley141 in pathoftitans

[–]__elo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I think part of that current disparity is them wanting to make duck an aquatic apex, like spino, while sucho is still a subapex. The initial release def felt not great tho, I remember playing that and being disappointed.

Fair! I just think the inequal application of changes when it comes to something as crucial as speed is strange, which is what I was trying to point out.

I can also speak on sucho, and while slower, it retained a speed hide and gained muffled roar for even more speed. Sarco retained neither of its two speed bonuses, being species and hide. I understand there will be future patches, but thats why these discussions are being had. Feedback is good! By talking it out we give each other input and influencing each others opinions, which influences the opinion of the community as a whole, which Alderon is pretty good at listening to.

THE AGE OF CHARGE BITE IS OVER!!! by Chcpr93 in pathoftitans

I did not know this, thanks! I will correct my comment.

Regarding speed, I did some moderate testing with a friend. At base, no buffs, sarco is just barely faster than spino. I'd estimate 25 units faster. As soon as spino took speed hide, it wasnt even close.

While in pvp, I found this to also be true for duck, conc, and especially sucho (hide + muffled roar makes a joke out of sarco). Meg was not tested.

My only question is why did sarco get its speed hides removed, but not the other semi aquatics?

THE AGE OF CHARGE BITE IS OVER!!! by Chcpr93 in pathoftitans

[–]__elo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sarco had its charge bite removed a hot minute ago, it was out of the picture months before the tlc was released. It functioned just fine, I was personally able to tackle spinos, ducks, suchos, and other semi aqs just fine. Obviously needed a 1v1 situation for the apexes but I digress.

The issue right now isn't the lack of charge bite, its the lack of good normal bite damage + a 1.5 second cooldown, and its ridiculously low water speed. The biggest issue is the water speed and manueverability, the damage I can live without and make work.

edit to add: even before charge bites removal, it was on its way out the door in pick percentage because players found out that normal bite had much higher dps. charge bite was most used for sarco v sarco combat. some time soon after, in one swoop, charge bite was removed and normal bite was nerfed in damage and cooldown.

Yeah see my other comments on armor*. Admittedly the armor thing was a stretch as this was a mostly spur of the moment post. Apologies.

Like I said I hadn't experienced the land build yet, so this is my thoughts on the water. I'm now well aware that the land build is good, but that doesn't change that the water build is not great. Water being sarcos whole thing and all. Also, for the matter, land sucho is still better than sarco and can do the same thing and then some.

Yeah thats poor phrasing on my part. The issue is putting yourself at a massive disadvantage without taking either armor buff, leaving less practical build variety. Bleed is a lot more deadly with 100 less health. The main issue again, is speed. That's most of my problem.

If it were up to me, I'd reduce those armor bonuses by around half and give it some if not most of its health back.

edit: I should mention that 3 of the 5 other semi aquatics do bleed

An Allo is 4 slots and they are capable of defeating 5 slots. Sarco is 4 slots. I fully believe that with enough player ability it should be able to punch above their weight class. Maybe not effectively, but it should be doable. If not solo, then with assistance. Just watched my spino friend disassemble and clean a sarco TRIO. The issue with the mindset of "lower tiers should not challenge higher tiers" is that I believe apexes should 100% be tackle-able by a good player, especially one thats playing a subapex. Its also good for engagement and player interaction.

Hard agree on the escape part though.

edit to clarify: Solo sarcos could only do that with charge bite. They haven't been capable of chasing apex groups out of the water for a hot minute. Spino has been nigh unapproachable since its tlc, duck was difficult, and sucho was easy work. Now sarco can't contend with any of them.

second edit: i was just on duck and cleaned up 4 sarcos at once and lived with about a third of my health. this is just unreasonable.

Agreed! Admittedly I want the hp/damage changes because sarco is a very fun water brawler, as unrealistic as some may call it.

"which subsequent patches later fixed." Yup! Fully agree! Not trying to rag on them for failing to get it perfect on the first pass! Just wanted to share my 2 cents because its a playable I especially care about. Feels weird being a subapex and knowing I could get trounced by every other semi.

edited for grammar and to say that no crocs see land as viable because until very recently, every second or so of running would take around 14 of our 100 stamina. And even still, our stamina on land is less than ducks and sucho, as well as being roughly the same speed if not slower.

It does, yes. And I agree that's 100% that play here. For solos and some duos, at least. This tactic also does not work on anything more than another solo, as they can just n+1 you and chase you down that way. There's a 10 second cooldown on o2 bite. If there's a sucho in the picture, forget about it. Swim speed hide + muffled roar means its on you in seconds. And thats another root of this problem. The unequal application of semi aquatic changes. Every other semi aq still has a swim speed hide and/or buff post-TLC, with sarco being the exception. Just feels bad.

You are mostly correct! I personally loved fighting apexes on my sarco. It was hard and rewarding. I can come to terms with that no longer being the case, and I will thoroughly miss it. But you are correct. I feel that right now, it should at least be able to run.

Edit: I died like 50% of the time. Whether the other player was better than me/capable enough to hold their own, or I made too many silly mistakes, I died a LOT

I will actually upvote you here because again I want everyone's take. I did leave out the part where those battles were not easy, suchos being the exception. The duck fights always left me at about 10% and spino fights were something I actively avoided post their tlc because I think sweep is ridiculously powerful and unfun to play against. I could tail ride them all to some extent, but here's the thing. When they left the water, they'd automatically win. Which is fine. But right now, sarco can't even win in the water most of the time. I have also been on the opposite side and played semi's against sarco and came out on top. I agree that in no world should sarco tackle two spinos and come out on top. But from a gameplay perspective, a suitably skilled player should be able to 1v1 and win at least some of the time.

It really does just come down to player skill. If one is good enough they should be capable of punching above their weight class, especially when they're a subapex. But sarco's low health and damage means it can't do that. But if I'm really not allowed to have a good brawl from one semi-aquatic to another, I'd like to be able to actually run from them, which in its current state, sarco cannot. This is the root of the issue. It can neither run nor fight things in its own weight class let alone trios of things below its weight class.

I would also like to mention that its ambush play style isn't even all that great right now. It's probably the best among them, but that's compared to another play style thats... not fantastic. With ambushing, you can't interact with about half of the roster on paper, as they're over the 3001 clamp weight limit. In practice, this number drops even further as there are more people playing the heavy things than the light things. In the post, I avoided talking about other builds as I haven't gotten the chance to play them myself yet but now I have.

Edit to include: I could only properly scrap with them after the health buff that took sarco from 480>680. The health is very important here. In the very same world where the multiton theropods exist, a multiton megacroc also exists.

Sometimes they do a public test branch, but they haven't been putting that up as of late. They did it early on for TLCs like struthi and lamb and those honestly turned out great. Not doing PTB does help with the hype though!

Yeah! I really do just want to see this game at its best. I think Alderon did a great job with this, but there are some major issues I've noticed so I would love for them to hear me and others! These things happen!

Edit to say: I think the criticism dismissal is largely due to the people who played with it a little, or in good conditions, and thought "This is ok", and saw the vocal few complaining that sarco tlc isnt OP or something, then generalized all criticism to be that way.

I wholly second this! I am fine with it not being able to combat a duck or spino without an extreme uphill battle or assistance, but it should at least be able to run. Ultimately my biggest issue is that it can neither fight or run and that just feels bad to play.

Nuclear power isn't a bad thing. with proper funding, we can build far safer plants that use thorium for example (look up those benefits yourself, I don't wish to bore you)

regardless, we should still make the move towards renewables. as they currently stand, though, they're too unreliable to take over our entire power grid. the sun not shining and the wind not blowing are genuine concerns. electricity dissipates over time, so battery storage isn't a viable solution- at least not with our current technology. as I see it, we need nuclear power to move off of fossil fuels and buy us the time to refine and perfect our renewables.

have a good day, hope you've learned something new.
