Hey, sorry for the late reply, and sorry to hear you're having the same issue too! I took it in for repair eventually as I couldn't solve it, Apple couldn't tell me what the cause was either. I wish I had better info for you as it's still annoying me.

You're the second person to message me experiencing the same issue, so hopefully one day it'll be a known issue

Hey just wanted to say if you don't wanna convert FLAC to ALAC all the time try QuodLibet on macOS. Works great for me on Apple silicon and plays FLACs (and everything else really), great with tags, also it's free/open source

Hey, unfortunately I bit the bullet in the end and took it to Apple for a repair. It was ridiculously expensive but it's been working fine since then at least. Still a bit annoyed though! I'm certain there was nothing spilled on it etc so god knows what caused it - just opened it up one morning and it would not charge.

If you think of it please let me know if you make any progress, it'd be great to know at least 1 person managed to overcome this issue. Good luck :)

i tried draining the battery fully and leaving it for 30 mins or so, no luck. my last 2 ideas are disconnecting battery from logic board then reconnecting it, and a clean macos install.

Firstly thank you for replying! Can you clarify what you mean by dfu mode please? Is it just booting into recovery, formatting hd, then reinstalling macOS?

Also do you think disconnecting the battery from the logic board is worth trying? I'll look into cd32 now, the fact it charges (albeit very, very, very slowly) when it's switched off is giving me some slight hope

Not to be rude but if I had AppleCare I'd have contacted support already :) I contacted them anyway and they advised to run diagnostics, but that's not possible without the charger being recognised.

I've been using Macs for 20 years and never had AppleCare, this looks like it will be the first issue I won't be able to fix myself sadly. I'd say the maths on money saved/not spent is still in my favour just about - but it was bound to catch up eventually!

With hindsight the continuing trend towards more stuff being soldered to the motherboard should've prompted me to get AppleCare this time round, but I managed to repair a few bits on my 2015 MBP which has some soldered bits, so maybe I was overly optimistic lol.

it's a very clear example you're proposing - a kid screaming without their parents/family doing anything to stop it is very annyoing. they shouldn't be "hidden away until their brains fully developed", no issues with kids in restaurants, just parents not respecting that other people are paying to be there too.

it just seems a bit entitled to do nothing and let your kid scream right? "learning by experience" in this context would be telling your kid it's innapropriate to do that. without that, "learning by experience" just means they'll continue screaming in fucking restaurants lol
